Note: Dev's might want to skip to Bottom Line

BACKGROUND:

Please forgive my ignorance about the subject of court writs but I blew by them on my live server because everyone else in the guild had faction and they made stuff for me. As a result I am more than a little confused about their purpose, etc.

When I got to SS I was under the impression you only needed faction with a court if you were a sage and needed recipies for spells. As a result I did quests with each of the three courts over and over. That should have left me with the same faction I had when I came to SS.

Eventually someone brought up the subject on the test channel and seemed to indicate there were recipies there for all the different crafters. As a result I started trying to build faction with the Court of Coins and I am now down to -15,000 with that group.

When looking at my faction with the other two groups it says -50,000. After thinking about this a bit, and doing a little math work in my brain, I came to realize that building the basic faction of +20,000 with a court would require a player earn 70k sp which is about 28 iterations of the quest (70,000/2500=2.

Now I don't have many outstanding qualities but I have the patience of Job. Repetitious tasks don't bother me in the least. I was, therefore, very surprised to find that doing a quest 28 times is more than a little annoying. Having to do it with mobs that are green is even more annoying as it means I lose out on treasure chests and small chests.

I also heard that if you eventually build +50k sp with each of the courts you would get a special title. My guess is that it would be "Inmate of the Month in Sunny Acres." To get to +50k, with just one court, you would have to do each quest 40 times (100,000/2,500=40). Multiply that by the three courts and to get the title you would have to do the quest 120 times.

Ok, I may have patience but I also have a short life-span so there is no way I'm going to get that title. I will consider myself lucky to get to +50K with a court.

But that is a problem for testers. The further you go in the quests the longer it takes for the NPC to give you a new quest. I am having a hard time understanding how I can test other aspects of the game when I have to spend all my time standing around for the NPC to give me the quest.

BOTTOM LINE:

I think it would be really great if the devs would cut out the wait time for the quests so we could whip through them and get on to testing other aspects of the game. That would help reduce the chance of the mobs going grey before we have gathered the sp we need.

I think it would also help if the beachcombers remained green until lvl 59 so we could continue to get chests once in awhile. Without the chests we are playing without an adequate income which will make it hard when it comes time to buy the recipies at the court.

Those quests and content is probably old enough for us to take a look into removing the time limits. I'll check into the issue when I get to the office tomorrow.

Yes it's a good point. Now that we have a lot of places to level from 50 to 60, staying in SS is not that important and having to wait to take the quests is tedious. I let the matter drop on live partly because of it and even if I was interested in the quests for the call of Maj'Dul, and I think that, when I will reach the level to play in SS on test (quite a long time away, I'm not leveling that fast) I will not do thoses quests either because of this time between quests.

Without the time limit we'll just have to grind the quests one after the other until reaching the faction and then we'll be able to move on. Less and less players have access to the courts on live and I do think removing the time limit would be part of the answer.

I removed the time limit from in between giving out the repeatables. The change should appear on Test the next time a major push goes through.

Bless you Jindrack. Now I have another problem with the writs.

I got my 20K sp and went to Maj 'dul for the next ones. I was given Maimun's Gifts to do, which I assume has to be done to continue earning sp. I got everything done but the step where I have to get a necklace from Lady Samiel. I have tried every version of how to get her to spawn I could find on a Google search. I spent 4 hours in the process doing some of the techniques over and over with no luck. I asked in test and no one knew what I was doing wrong and another player said he had deleted the quest, on his live server, for the same reason.

If there is some really esoteric method for getting Lady S to spawn it really needs to be written up on Wiki or Allakhazam. It is nuts to have a writ take over 4 hours and still not be completed--especially if it is required to get future writs.

All the mobs were grey to my necro so I killed one heck of a lot of pirates and their friends. The elites around the boxes were slaughtered every time they spawned. I killed the outlaw, stationary npcs, all npcs--including asps, and just the elites.

As I said in feedback, if this quest is working as intended then the quest sucks big time and needs some love. Even if the dumb npc appeared as she should have it is still nuts to have to kill things on the beach to get a mob to spawn two stories up a stone wall.

If you want us to kill x number of y mobs make that a discrete step in the quest and then advise the player to go up Pirate's Perch and kill Lady S. As it is now you have to run back and forth countless times since there is nothing that lets you know you have managed to locate her placeholder, assuming there is one, or fulfilled the requirements needed to get her to spawn.

Other than the Lady S fiasco it was a fun quest to do. It is a shame the have the last step make players delete the quest after putting so much work into it because they can't find the named NPC.

Had probs like yours at first. Make VERY sure that ALL stationary npc's on the beach are dead. You go all round the island and kill them all once. Then climb to the top and you'll find the guards. Kill those and Lady Samiel pops. But please note, you have to make very sure to kill all the beachies to get the quest to update. I did it by starting right by the cliff up and going round and killing everything. When you get back to that cliff you should have killed them all.

I had done that numerous times without results so I kept asking more people as they logged on. Will said he thought there was a timer to killing the stationary npcs so I got a couple of guildies to help me out and we were able to kill all the stationary npcs before the first group we killed, at the base of the wall climb, respawned. That worked great and I finally got the necklace.

The time it worked we did not kill the elites around the box even though they are stationary. We did kill all the npcs around the rocks and standing on the beach.

It would have been nice to know there was a timer before I wasted 6 hours on this quest. I am really miffed at this as I have worked really hard to get Almee up in level so I can help with raids. I don't like raids but I realize they need to be tested so I have been trying to do my part. Wasting 6 hours because of an undocumented timer really sucks.
