I have some spells that decrease mobs power, some do other things..stun...cause damge...stiffle....I also have a spell (destructive minds) that seems to be power related-it says 45% of power consumed will be drained from it's health). That seems to say the more power the mob uses/losesn it gets more hurt. Does that mean these things work **againtst** each other? If I've drained it's power with these other things, then the destructive mind spell can't hit as hard? Does it even matter?

Hope i"m kaing sense, if not, I"ll try again.

Yes, many of the spells a coercer casts interferes with the effectiveness of the other spells a coercer casts.Reactive damage, we have 3 types: 1 - Physical: Damage occurs when the target does physical damage to you, your pet, or a member of your group. Stuns and Dazes prevent the target from doing physical damage. Mitigation, avoidance, and wards also prevent the target from doing physical damage.2 - Spell: Damage occurs when the target does spell damage to you, your pet, or a member of your group. Stuns and Stifles prevent the target from doing spell damage. Resists, mitigation, avoidance, and wards also prevent the target from doing spell damage.3 - Power use: Damage occurs when the target uses power. Stuns and Stifles prevent the target from using power. Power drains reduce the amount of power a target can use. AND, all nameds and many other mobs don't even use power, they do abilities which don't need power and so they don't even have any power to use.Yup..It's confusing. Yes, it matters. It's part of why there are issues with the coercer class.

When I first began lining up my spells in my mind, I had thought destructive mind was impressive enough to NOT cast things that decrease their power. Now I see I'm compromising several spells for one and that seems silly. I imagine it's situational. A straight fight may be worth DM, but the stuns, stiffles and such I may be ignoring FOR DM may be worth more then the hp hit DM gives..

Sigh, I gotta headache, anyone got an aspirin

destructive mind is usefull only if it lasts till the end and do the end spell damage.Still, it's not that good coz it drains mana as long as it's active. So yes, in theory, DM is a great spell ... but only in theory since LU 13 I think. Before that, coercers must have been really powerfull (I can't tell, mine was created after DoF).that's why it is said coercers have too way of been played, offensive ... using your procs and all damage spells and not touching your cc spells. of defensive, by stunning, dazing, stiffling mobs. I usually play offensive in groups unless the healer has problems keeping the MT alive. If you have two healers, being defensive is useless .
