System specs are as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHZ OC @ 3.0GHZ

4GB (2x2 stick), OCZ PC-6400 5-4-4-12 Ram.

eVGA Nforce 680i SLI mobo

Corsair TX750W PSU

eVGA Geforce 9800 GX2

Windows Vista Ultimate x64

On high quality settings I sit between 25-40 fps average in areas that are not highly contested. Is the 9800 GX2 having known performance issues with EQ2?

Hi, this is what I did as I have the same card and was having strange lag issues. First, match your resolutions in windows to the resolution in eq. Then play in Full screen mode. When i play in window mode for some reason, my fps take a dump. I have no problem running the highest graphics setting in full screen mode (other than the headache i get from all of the crap). I'm going to search around and try to find out why windows mode would screw up the fps. hope this helps

Switching to full screen puts the card in 3d mode, therefore clocking it up.

I'd give this guide a try: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=411077

if it's working for nvidia 8 series users, it should work for the 9800gx2

that will sorta work but remember:

You will still get the stuttering frame rate drop, just not as frequent.

You will still get frame rates below what you "should" be getting for your hardware, if you read his guide he has to change quality settings based on which zone he goes into.

But he basically has the same exact settings I use, and gets "playable" frame rates, they still drop in area's like cities to the low 20's which is what the op is already saying is a problem in his eyes.

Been playing Vanguard, and decided to upgrade to station access so I could come back to EQ2, VG has no support for multi gpu or multi cpu for that matter, yet im able to play on EVERYTHING maxed and get 50+ FPS, with 30 as an extreme low point.

The graphics in VG are significantly superior (from a technical standpoint) than EQ2, with bump mapping, and lighting that is way ahead of the EQ2 engine. Yet unless I play under a high performance profile, EQ2 runs TERRIBLY. I remember way back running EQ2 Smoother on a Athlon 2500+ with a Radeon 9800 pro and 1 gig of ram =(
