That's nice to know, but what about all the typos and grammar mistakes? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

My wife and I absolutely abhor this change. We pay by credit card and will refuse to continue doing so where information is requested in pop-ups. I will NEVER input personal information on any such screen and this game can kiss my you-know-what for pulling this kind of change. There is far too much fraud going around and computers at these card agencies being hacked. Use the pop-up and you might as well just hand your personal, private details to any hacker on the net.STUPID. BAD MOVE.Rethink this, Sony.If you're going to laugh and screw the privacy of customers with this, you better have plans to issue subscription game cards through retailers that contain multi-month discounts like your current subscription plans.I can't believe Sony pulled this. What a disaster.

<cite>Meltz wrote:</cite><blockquote>I can't believe Sony pulled this. What a disaster.</blockquote>Its ok to be careful about fraud and identity theft. But, that's just borderline paranoia. The apps for these programs are run through"visa.com" and "mastercard.com". Thus if you own a card bearing either logo, they already have your personal info, and are simply verifying it. Sort of like refusing to sign withdrawal slip at your own bank. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>It seems Visa debit cards are unable to be "secured" ?</p><p>Very silly since many people use either visa or Master card debit cards that are linked to their bank account.</p><p>How will customers that use visa or Mastercard debit cards be able to purchase your product in the future?</p><p>How will customers that use a visa or Mastercard debit card be able to use the live gamer/station exchange?</p><p>My Visa debit card was good enough to have the fee for the year be deducted for your game. I will not be obtaining a visa credit card just to play this game nor to use the live gamer/station exchange.</p>

I couldn't, however, subscribe to the service without being directed there.
Sigh if it wont take Visa debit cards, EQ's gonna lose even more people. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Gnobrin, there's only one thing I don't like about those two programs. That's that in the typical implementation the sign-in is in the web site's page, not a separate page. This conflicts with my safety policy: I never ever under any circumstances enter a password that would give access to my bank account <i>except</i> when the address in the URL bar clearly points to a page belonging to my bank itself. And that's only because I'm technical enough to figure out whether there's any funny business going on in the URL. For a non-technical person I'd have to strengthen that prohibition to: never ever enter a password unless you typed the URL in yourself or used a bookmark you created to get to the page.Yes, I'm being paranoid. Look back at the string of recent web-page hacks (which hit normally-trustworthy sites and didn't require cracking the site's own server) and tell me I'm not justified in being paranoid.

<p> It won't take debit cards? I don't use credit cards, I don't want any credit cards. Does this mean when my sub auto-renews it won't go through?</p><p> </p>

Odd, because my check-VISA has been enrolled in the Verified by Visa for a long time and it's always worked for me.

<p>I currently pay (monthly) for my EQII subscription with a <i>VISA</i> debit card which is linked to my personal checking account.</p><p>I want it known that, if I attempt to make a change to my billing plan (or if I attempt to purchase some new expansion or adventure pack) and I am prompted to enter my billing information on <i>any</i> website that uses <i>popups</i> - <i><b>or</b></i> if I discover that I cannot register the card I currently use, I will <i>immediately</i> cancel my subscription to <i>EverQuest II</i> and find some other way to spend both my time and my money.</p><p>Turn on just about ANY news broadcast in the western hemisphere, folks - what was 'disposable' income in the US <i>yesterday</i> is being used to pay for things like bread and milk and breakfast cereal <i>today</i>. Not to mention gasoline. You picked a really bad time to pull something like this.</p><p>I'm quite sure that my measly few dollars per month amounts to less than a drop in the ol' bucket, but I've got a notion that I'm not the only one. Time will tell. In any case, you've been warned.</p><p>(First the Live Gamer move with its text messaging cel phone debacle, and now this. Way to go about hemorrhaging business, SOE. I predict you'll be jacking up subscription rates before too long.)</p>

<p>like many of the posters above and probably below me,</p><p>I will not be finding another means to play SoE games no matter how much i like them. VBV wont take my debit card then i guess that is the end of that for me =(</p><p>Not going to best buy to purchase a game card either.</p><p>*EDIT*</p><p>VBV did verify my card and is good to go so i'll stay for now</p>
Well i tried to get it verified again and once again it was rejected. So come resub time it may well be i'll have to start looking for another game to play for my wife and I,bit of shame this becuase after using the same card without problem for 4 years it's looking like i won be able to resubscribe as theres no way on this earth i'm buying game cards to play (plus living in the uk we can't get them and i'm on the station access plan).Just a shame we have yet again no official info about our subs and wether they will be renewed or not

Just a question then: Is it possible to still use a Visa or Mastercard that's not secured due to it not being possible? I see a lot of assumptions, but I never see an official answer as to whether these cards can be used or not for the procedure of subscribing.

<p>Those that have had their check cards rejected, call your banks. I have 2 checkcards. One goes through and one comes up ineligible. The bank ( that is linked to the ineligible card) is at this time conversing with Visa and making sure they are one of the participating members.</p>

Is enrolling in Verified by X mandatory? My Netspend Visa Debit card is ineligible, and that is how I buy things on-line. I plan to add services, but I won't be able to use Verified. Can I still buy goodies from the Station Store?
