Hi Naub! Well, nowdays ppl have chars with tons of dps, and healers are full +heal items, so its better to use few high dps items like thuuga, coa ring, etc, go Off mode, and try always to have agro in the bad moments. Only few mobs (Heroics) hit really hard. I usually use chain armor pieces for dps indeed. Its more important to use holy ground and sigil correctly, than go mega high Def and mega low dps. Left healers to do their job. Our role is agro managment and to have a big pool of HPs. In our server, legendary swass and brigands can tank CoA, Chel, etc. so use dps items.

Umm...how do I put this? Dropping your defenses too low and your making the healer's job too hard.

Everybody else in the game got a huge DPS increase. I take that as a sign that we don't need to concentrate on DPS, we need to concentrate on good tanking. Our agro management is basically the only thing that works extremely well for paladins. We don't need to be in offensive stance and statted for DPS to hold agro. While we do have 1 class ability and 1 AA ability to save our own hides if something unexpected comes up, its not as good a toolbox as a lot of other tanks get. I'd recomend playing it a bit safe and stick with proper tanking gear and maybe even defensive stance.

Sure, splurge on a few really good offensive peices of gear when you can find them. However, the majority of your gear should still keep an eye on mittigation, defense, parry and block unless your raiding. If your in mostly t8 fabled you can stop watching your mittigation since your capped. Then again, if your in t8 fabled you really shouldn't be too concerned when it comes to group hunting.

Let the DPS classes glory in their DPS. Lets stick to being good solid tanks that make the group work.

I do, 57.3% avodiance. I know and agree about that... just my point, it seams to be hard getting 4.5k + mit just from instance... havent seen anyone with that kind of mit only using instance armor etc.

If you click my sig you can see the choices I went with in the end. Any thoughts?

With a mix of bought items and quested items i have over 5k mit. buffed. and sit at 53.7% mit. I have started getting adornments and such that concentrate on avoid/parry. The dimishing returns above 5k makes mit nearly pointless. Hence the argument that the 72 and 77 MC pieces are better then some of the Legendary sets out there. I would start concentrating on health and avoidance more then mit.

Just looked, I have 4269 mitigation self buffed with adept III stance. Is that about normal?

My paladin's avoidance is only about 45% - 46%, pretty low currently. Still using Draconic Deflector and don't have any good jewelery yet to improve defense. With instanced and quested gear I don't think that I can get my mit to 4.5k - 5k and get my avoidance up at the same time, but avoidance is better than mitigation. The focus for me will be avoidance and health. My paladin is for tanking, my group members are for healing and dps. If I want to dps I'll play my swashbuckler, if I want to heal I'll play my warden, if I want to af a group while I do laundry I'll play my dirge, if I want to hold aggro I'll play my paladin.

Click on my sig and see what I have equipped...

Can still put out 800-1.2k dps in defensive stance depending on the type of mob (ie, undead you will parse quite high).

You can swap out some of the raid drops with instance drops and still do about the same...you'll be better off getting stuff with +parry +def etc, adorn stuff with +parry and +sta adornments. If you can take the hits you'll do pretty well. With substituting instance drops for some of my raid drops (which isn't very many) you will still be able to tank offensive if you have 2 healers on harder stuff without much trouble and be able to put out over 1k dps pretty consistently. I know a couple Paladins that can do over 2k dps when just dpsing consistently. I suck in the DPS department, but can stay alive pretty well and keep people alive

Check out some of the articles here:

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Paladin

There's some pretty good info on how to spec etc for what it is you're looking to do.

Just for one run to prove a point. Heck, if you were on AB I'd pay for you to do it. If its about the coin, I think you can still /test copy? But its only about 4p for a whole set.
