View Full Version : Do I understand "level locking" well enough?

Why: The idea behind this is to get your AAs higher than they naturally would be at that level.

How: Get to level 10 or so, turn off adventure exp., do quests in multiple zones.

What I don't understand is do I need to do this every 5 or so levels? Or can this be done up to about level 20 or 25 just to get ahead of the curve (leaving exp. on for the remaining levels)?

There is no such thing as level locking, there is "disable combat experience" - experience for killing mobs. max AA level = 1.5 * adventure levelThe idea behind disabling is not only to get as many AA as possible, but simply to explore the game content to its maximum. Even "level locked" you will still be outleveling a lot of quests at low and mid levels.

To efficently level lock you need to do the following:

Disable Combat XP at level 1

From lvl 1-9 explore the zones that you will quest in, quests completed are as followsExile quest: Bounty, 16 Freeport 16 QyenosLore and Legend: Explore most all of the Lore and Legend Locations and pickup books if able.Various other zone quests, including all of Antonica, Commonlands, RoK Starting zones, TS, Front part of (near docks to goblins down beach), Front area of Zek and back to Greenhood lake.

Once you have explored enough area to get to lvl 9 go to Timmorous Deep and start the quest line there, do as many quests as you can until you are level 9.9. Complete the quest that gives you your Griffon pet which will ding you 10, and give you your first AA hit.

As soon as this is complete go straight to the city and exile. Complete the 16 Freeport and 16 Quenos bounty quests. Each will give you AA for a name and AA for completing the quest. Then progress to the rest of the exile quests ensuring you do each one on both sides.

Complete the lore and legends. By this time you should be level 14 with aprox 25-30 aa depending on how well you do it.

Yes, this is even with the current locking system, however its a big waste of time these days.

Nice write up Killque. One remark at level 14 you can have at most 14 + 14/2 = 21 AA.Altho, if OP isn't going to twink at some particular low level I'd not recomend doing all what you said. Its too time consuming.Wil try to explain why:I didn't explore except cities, locked at level 4 or 5, did all the quests in TD and all level 10+ quests I could find for evils (by far not all of them). At level 24 I already had 32 AA. That's not that far from the limit for this level - 36 AA (24 + 24/2). Basically by level 30 I'd definitely hit limit 45 AA doing quests, bloodline, HQ's, LL's ect and killing nameds (outdoors, dungeons, instances). So already at level 30-35 without much hassle of exiling and exploring higher level zones you'd have to re-enable combat experience...

Complete the L&L and Race quests on griffon back. You get AA xp but no adventure xp.

Don't know if it is or not, but that is what happens when you complete book quests on the griffons. Be kind of a weird exploit to get "less" rewards intentionally.

eh, if they take punitive action for something as innocuous, it will give an excuse to do something else with my time.
