Can anyone suggest some chandeliers that do produce light? The couple styles that I tried so far are better looking in my place than what I have tried but it seems that anything that looks half way decent isnt an actual light source.

Comely Iron Chandeliers are shadow bugged, so if u have shadows turned on, they dont look like they produce any light at all.

Feyiron Chandeliers look like they belong in a redneck bar (no offense if youre a redneck, just not the look I want). Produces light but looks like [Removed for Content].

Sandalwood Octogonal Chandelier is too big, need it for a one story room, this light is appropriate for two story rooms, non light producing apparently.

Ornate Ebon Chandelier light producing and good shadows, looks good but already in use more than once in another room.

Alluring Ebon Chandeliers are non light producing, perfect style and size but unable to resolve with other light sources...

Basic Chandelier (no trade) light producing but not self shadowed. Right style.

Basically I want something that has the style or very similar style to the Alluring Ebon Chandelier or the lvl 1 present when you first get a house reward Basic Chandelier, but theres jack for chandeliers on the broker right now and I dont know a lot of the other non listed items. I've run thru other peoples houses looking for stuff for about 2 hours, and other than the fact that I have discovered most people are slobs in their homes, I havent really found any half way decent self shadow casting light sources. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You arn't going to find the "Perfect" Chandelier if you worry about small graphical issues like shadow effects.

That said, you'll probably have to try harvesting some rares. Try the Steel Chandelier (Steel cluster), Alluring Feysteel Chandelier (Feysteel Cluster), and Arcane Fire Chandelier (Fire Emerald).

There' not much in teh choice of chandeliers in this game in general. However, there are many table lamps, T8 in particular, that give off good light sources.

Oh yeah. Refer to this.

EQ Traders is an awesome site, thos screen shots dont show any shadows tho. I'll explain my reasoning for going shadow crazy in a minute...

These screenshots I turned down my ambient lighting to enhance the shadows as much as possible. Now the reason Im going after shadows is that the devs are currently working on multi core support, which to say will allow many users with multi core machines and strong graphic cards to run the game with shadows (hopefully) and particles at much higher framerates. Basically a lot of people will start running around with shadows turned on.

Do you happen to know of any websites that have any screenshots of each light model with shadows turned on? Its really the only thing that EQ2Traders.com is missing...

Just a side note:If it's large enough to hide it, I'll usually put a mine lantern inside a non-lit lighting fixture (like inside the burning end of an Oggokian torch or Steel Hanging Lantern for example).

I just turned the shadows off, all the chandeliers look pretty good then. That probably helps you nada if you really want to keep shadows on, though.... (A lot of things look weird in this game with shadows, the character models get all glitchy too. At least they did for me.)

That was a good idea using a secondary light source and hiding it. I've done that in a couple other places, some have worked out really well, but the game wont let me place a light that high. I can get it to hold position about two feet under where I want the light source to come from but no higher. Hence I was looking for a different type of light source but Im sick of spending game money on things that I dont know if they are a light source model or not.

The candelablra isnt an actual light source but using a Death's Head Candle had the cool effect of making the eyes of the skull glow.

I'm betting this is an obvious one but, have you tried stacking a couple tables and raising it on the Z-axis from a higher point?

Here's how to change your lighting settings. Save or write down the current settings so you can restore them if you have problems. Changing the settings will change game performance, but I have an old machine and the following changes were good in my setup. First of all, in the Lighting section of Options/Display change the first option. Lighting Quality, to High. Then set Max Lights to 30. That is not one of the torch options. It is about 4 items down in list. This will let the game light more than a minimum number of the lamps in your room at once. Without this you can have 10 lamps in a room and only see light from one or two. Finally, set Minimum Ambient Light (last option) up until you see a nice glow. Those little Cobalt lamps that look like candles in inventory will cast the a lovely light on any rug beneath a table on which they are set. Now leave the Lighting section and go to Particle Effects. Still in Options/Display. Set Maximum Particle Size to just a bit over the minimum. This will let the flame show on Generic and Paladin and some other lights.

You will be amazed at how lovely your house will look. I wish I could have an option to temporarily change these settings for any player that enters my house, just so my friends can see my place as I've designed it to look. (Isn't it pretty? ).
