How do you spend them? What gear is needed?

I think it depends on what you are going for with your bruiser. If you end up being the tank for your pvp group alot, you might consider Going down INT line to get Eagle Shriek. The aa before eagle shriek increases your parry. If you go down this line, make sure to put 8 in parry. Also going down the Stam line, you get an increase in deflection. Those two lines increases your avoidance a great deal.

If you are more inclined for dps and aren't usually the MT for your pvp group, you could consider going down STR line for Chi. I believe most bruiser go down this line, even if they use weapons. I use weapons and so the entire tree except for the actual STR and the Chi are useless, but the Chi is a really huge boost in pvp. Alot of bruisers, in correalation to STR line go down WIS line. To help make up for the loss of avoidance, the wisdom line has an aa that increases your max health. There are also some nice abilities that can be used down this line. Crane Flock at the end is great in group/raid pvp, since it adds a proc that AE's. Becareful where you are at when you have that buff on though, if you are facing any mobs or guards, you can get agro them with that. But being a bruiser, if you do happen to proc that and agro a mob, just FD it.

Which ever way you go, you will definitely want to go with agility line. Don't need to get the last aa in that line, but you will definitely want to spend some points in agi to beef up the avoidance even more and AMBIDEXTERITY in that line is a must have. We all know how long our reuse timers are, this will decrease those reuse timers on our CA's.

That's for the brawler tree, of course. For the bruiser tree, drag is an absolute must (knockouts line). You aren't even welcome in a group if you are a bruiser without drag. The conditioning line is a definite benefit as well. Increase in your self heal as well as shortening timers for close mind and stone deaf. The Retribution of Stone at the end is great to have, but hardly reliable.

As far as gear goes, it's hard to say specifically depending on what tier you are in. If you are t7 or t8, definitely pvp gear. If you are any other tier, I'd say get gear with as much str and agi as you can. The str will increase your dmg output and increase your power pool. Being a leather wearer, agility is your main defense since it increases your avoidance. Look also for resists. Since most leather gear has EITHER agi or wis and rarely both, bruiser resists tend to be a bit lower than most. If you get good str and agi armor, you can boost up resists with jewelry. Regardless, bruiser will always seem to have the lowest resists to all types of magic. In defensive stance, you can boost up your poison, but most bruisers will opt for offensive stance or mid-range stance.
