Was reading the thread on the Scariest/neatest zones..and got to thinking.. Okay..lets also make a list of zones NEVER to go back to and why:I'll start: SolEye -- No, I don't "need" to turn in any more rares for armor... No, I don't want to run for 30 minutes with GREY mobs trying to push me off the ramp..and NO, I don't want the stupid memory leak(s) that inevitably cause me to crash.Anyone else?? -- Coz

For me it's Ruins of Varsoon... yeah I know it's a low level dungeon..Mainly because I'm just sick of it. For what...2 full tiers it seems every quest sends you back into RoV. Repetitin killed it for me.

My top 3 Zones I will never go back to:

1)Nek Forest

2)Nek Forest

3)Nek Forest

I am not a rat in some maze. This zone is way to constrictive for traveling. We get enough of this from the dungeons and which is why you will see a dungeon be the number one answer in this post.

LAVASTORM!! I four years, only ONE toon has finished an HQ in there, and that was rather recently.

Talk about feeling like a rat in a maze. That zone maks no sense. Hate it! hate hate hate it!

Any Qeynos zone? For me it would be a decision between Pillars of Flame and Poet's Palace - especially the floor where you wait for the doors to open. It's usually the one furthest away so you don't have time to run to it before it closes.

that stupid pirate zone right off the docks in commonlands, i can't remember the name of it offhand "... prison escape..". i couldn't even find a way to get off the dock in that instance without 120 mobs rushing me as soon as i moved.

I would highly agree that Nek Forest has to be the worst zone in the entire game... It would be nice if SOE did revamp it to be more like Darklight Wood. Splitpaw is pretty bad too. SOE killed the XP in Spiltpaw and it is not even worth going there anymore since they did that, total waste of time. Rivervale is on some other peoples lists, not sure why though? The only thing I can think of is... what is there to do there except writs? I really like the RoK Expansion zones. It seems SOE gets better and better at creating content as the years went by. This game is definetly way better then it ever was since Launch of EQ2. I like the DoF zones too, but the EoF zones are pretty cool the only problem I have with them is that the mobs hit way harder than any other zones in the entire game... why is that? I guess thats about all I have to say if I think of anymore I will post... Oh, just had a thought; the Crab Zone with the Epic crab that kicks your butt in one second flat if you are not ready... would be nice if SOE gave you a little more room to deal with in there.

I've got a few that I can't stand to add here. Greater Faydark - what was wrong with the old layout from EQ1? Why make all the stupid trees and mountains and hills that you have to find a way to get around or over? Why even bother with a road since it usually leads to a dead end because there's a big tree smack in the middle of it? If you're going to have a zone set up so horribly, at least change the map so you can tell if something is higher than the surrounding area! Lesser Faydark - same problems as with Greater Faydark. Also, make the dumb horses have all the locations available once you discover them instead of having to ride to one place to get to another. Annoying! Everfrost - I still don't know where I'm going in that place. It's beautiful, but not fun to traverse. Ruins of Varsoon - Enough already! Why does every quest come back to that place?? It was ok the first 10 times, but now I just want to stop going there. Qeynos and Freeport - Too much zoning! Put it all together like Neriak and Kelethin. That's why I betrayed my fury to Neriak. The layout is much better, you turn in status items at one place and the tradeskill area is easy to get around in. Not to mention the teleporter thing that takes you to different points in the zone. Much better than having to run back and forth in Qeynos. The only thing better about that area is the best housing. That expensive house in South Qeynos is just beautiful. Nek Forest - another pain to get around in. There's little to do and it's laid out like someone that was intoxicated got their hands on the plans and completely screwed them up. I only go there for the docks.Antonica and Commonlands - these aren't laid out too badly, but they're so LARGE. If you don't have a speed buff or a mount, you're stuck running back and forth. Yeah, the griffons help a bit, but not a lot. The quests are tedious and boring as well. I used to hate making new characters because I knew I'd be stuck in one or the other of those places.New Tunaria - Why not just call it Felwithe and make it a high elf city? I loved Felwithe in EQ1. They stuck this one too far from anything and don't really have anything leading you to it. I just went in on my own when I was running around one day. Beautiful zone and really beautiful music (some of the best music in the game), but there's so little to do.I could probably keep on going here, but I'll leave it at that.

For me, the creepiest zone was Sol's Eye --- I'm not crazy about heights and I remember the days of running back and forth to Naggy, being tense the whole time, cowering under fury group invis and praying I a) wouldn't get out of range of the inviser and b) wouldn't fall off the edge! And yes, my real life fear of heights transferred to game LOL -- -it's odd, I still hate those bridges, yet love to put my falling cloak on and jump off clouds in Barren Sky ! Even after the mobs were gray, that zone set my teeth on edge!

My 2 cents.... Worst Zones-- First and formost...RoV. Got old quick going there for every HQ. Nek Forest...please let the tree companies have their day in that place. Unrest...Just a horrible time sink of a zone. Chelsith...a little more appealing now that all named are up...but give adventures a means to dispose of the useless bubbles. Best zones--- Chardok...great zone...good loot...nice teamwork zone Permafrost...Lady Vox was the BEST looking dragon in the game...I would have loved to see a revamp of her...then again, then did mess up Venekor. Condemed Catacombs...most under used zone in the game IMO...take a lvl 30ish alt and say LFG for Condemed Catacombs and see what you get...the zone is packed but was good xp and had like 3 quests you could do and get decent xp

Beyond SS I found the entire DOF expansion to be sadly lacking, loot was bad, mobs were dull and zone was tiny. And really SS I only liked the beach front hehe.Lavabore was a horrid zone and sol e was a tragic version of a cool EQ1 dungeon... Nek forest is somewhere I never hunt, its just drab and dull.I still like FG and SH, and ROV - I guess I've got good memories of when they were new and exciting.I'm not sure I like the idea of revamped old instances to be t8 content - part of the fun for me is discovering the zone, just replacing a lvl 10 ooze with a lvl 80 ooze doesn't seem to bring back the excitement of a zone - regardless of its new phat lewt

KoS by far wins the prize as a whole for worst zone designs ever. Was there a design? Let's take one zone sized landmass and chop it up into floating pieces, such is Tenebrous Tangle. Then let's take another zone sized landmass, Barren Sky and chop it up into 10 pieces. Bonemire much the same. KoS was an absolute fraud.

As a whole the old world zones were far more appealing and well designed. At least each of the zones had an atmosphere to them as compared to even the latest effort, RoK. Feerott is far more of a jungle than Kunzar could ever hope to be. When in Kunzar I feel like I'm in Ohio. The Highton area in Kylong deserves to be hit with at least a large sized tactical nuke. Marching orders for RoK were to make non-descript landmasses and populate them with mobs checkerboard style. Nice touch having a drolvarg guarding every 50 sq ft. but it just looks ridiculous and plays about the same.

The only candidate for worst zone design in the original release package that I would include would be Everfrost. Seriously, if they were going to do that poor a job on Everfrost, they just should have left it out of EQ2. It smacks of, "gee we need to launch, even though Everfrost is 1/4 done, ship it anyway".

For me it would be several if not more that I would care not to revisit.1. Nek Castle, that place sucks beyond all that sucks. All the [Removed for Content] quests just to be able to get to where you need to go. And the Billy's! OMG NO! DFC falls kinda into this too. Lag city for alot of folks, but for some reason I like it enuf to not include it in my top 6 of the worst zones.2. Lavastorm, needs serious work. The HQ's there are rarely if ever finished. And a serious lack of any quests there, beyond writs to do, is about all that anybody ever goes there for anymore.3. Everfrost, I'll thro Permafrost in there too. Not much for quests to do, and the HQ's in Everfrost, many never do. Finding those [Removed for Content] shards. Naw I think I'll pass. I play for fun. And don't find it fun, haing to have my nose pressed against a flat screen squinting for hours trying to find tiny shards that can only be seen on some of the best video settings, that is if you can find them at all. Is no fun in my book.4. The Bloodline Chronicles, this one I'm torn on. I love the subject matter. But nobody ever does these quests untill they get into there 60's and breeze thro the quests just to get the skills, vamp illusion, and cool looking cloth armor. The zones are a serious deathtrap to any folks who try and adventure there while the zone is still aggro. And finding a group to help you there is impossible. But I like the zones, and quests. Just think they need to be toned down a wee bit, so people will actually go there in there high 30s and 40s.5. Splitpaw saga zones. This started out popular as heck. Remember how busy those zone where when they first came out with that adventure pack? Wow it was packed! Now it's a ghost town there, and I gotta say the quests kinda suck too. A revamping there would breath new life into a dead zone for sure. But until then, most of us just decide not to go there any more.6. Rivervale. I dunno why, I used to go there alot before all the expansions came out. Now, I can say I ain't been there in a couple years, and as I level new alts, I find myself never needing or wanting to go there. It's very light on quest content, and the zone itself is dull. No real reason to go there IMO.

I'm working on finishing up Peacock since I wasn't around until EoF but want to finish it. It seems that the zone people least want to go back to is the Silent City, to hunt for Godking Access Eyes. NOBODY wants to go. Keep the zone in since it's nicely designed but make a scaled heroic instance of it or something, to get the eyes from. I could get friends to come help me for one Godking raid. I can't get friends to come camp random epic mobs for hours and hours in a grey zone. It's totally useless now, and I'm guessing probably 3 people a year get Peacock done, by bribing people.
