I was visiting my stats page today when suddenly I found myself staring at a pair of boots for sale on Ebay. Yes, one of the banner ads actually hijacked me and took me away from the site I had chosen to visit. To make this clear, I did not click on the banner ad - I did not choose to visit the ad.The "new" page did not open in a new window, it literally took me away from the site I was visiting. There are banner ads and there are banner ads - meaning good and bad. Any banner ad that takes or "hijacks" visitors is bad and any site that continues to allow those banner ads to display is playing with fire.I consider this a security issue. I'll be enabling my popup blocker when visiting any site associated with SOE in the future, so please don't be using popup code for any "good" content or tons of us will miss it.

I'd imagine that ads like these would be removed once SOE is aware of them (a la popup ads).

I'm pretty sure that you should report them via PM to Gnobrin or Grimwell (or SOE-Jabru?) with the company name, as recommended for the popup ads.

its also entirely possible that this wasnt caused by the page but rather by spyware on your comp? I visit eq2players probably 10-12 times every play session and i have never had this happen.

Hmmmm....I'm guessing this is why I can't log in to the EQ2 Players website today.

I don't believe this is a related issue however we will look into it as soon as we get the service back up and running.

My machine is clean. If I was infected with adware, the problem would not be a single isolated case that happened as I originally described. I too use EQ2 Players most every day and stay logged into the service maybe more than I should.Banner ads are a danger and sites that use them must remain constantly vigilant. Google ads were compromised several months ago and caused a big shakeup among the sites that use their service as well as those who purchase their ads. The hackers are smart and good at what they do. With all the talk of people losing their accounts lately, every little things that happens that seems "not quite right" makes us all nervous.I'd appreciate it if this could be looked into. As to telling you which ad caused the problem, I really don't know because like so many I pay no attention to the banners and I certainly would never click on one. The page that I was redirected to was an EBay page. The product was shoes (or boots). Thanks for the attention to this matter.
