I have been limping along with the Eq2 standard UI since launch, works pretty well for me, but was wondering if there is a UI out there that is really well suited to Tanking that i should have a look at?

Profit here as well.

It show's some nice stuff along the bottom (my setup), that are useful. Also, quick potions (pushbuttons). It's easier to tell when you are bezerk etc, due to it showing your current haste and dps mod along the bottom.

I just recently switched to profit. It has some flaws due to the preferences I have... it takes up too much screen real estate... and I need to see alot to be able to pick up adds as they come in (as do all tanks and enchanters).. I find the UI takes up a *little too much room*What I suggest is taking the bottom bar... sliding it to a corner and doing click through and make it all the way transparent (invisible)... do the same for the targeting bar that is horizontal... since you already have your bar, direct target, and indirect target on your screen. After that the major screen real estate loss is the player window... it's just too [Removed for Content] big and not enough zerker data on it... I want to edit this down to about 2/3 and put our data on there... I don't need a 2 inch by 2 inch update on how much exp I have... nor do I need to know my class or how much gold I have when on a raid.If I edit the player window... I might post it in here... but I haven't had much time lately and it's going to need major modifications... plus I haven't done UI modding for like a year... so I'm majorly rusty. What I want to see in that window is MIT Avoid HP DPSHasteCritDBL ATKmaybe power. This is all stuff you should be able to see "at a glance" right before you pull... a hate modifier visual would be cool too but I don't think that's viewable. If all that is in there it would replace that stat bar on the bottom and add to what it contained... and it would fit in the space you can free up in another window... that is perfect IMHO.My other pet peeve is the inventory window... it's way too small.

I use a combination of pieces custom tailored for my own preferences. I find I'm able to build a comprehensive UI icluding all the individual pieces I want from any full UI mod or single pieces. Then, through some custom xml, I can modify them to my likings, tweaking functionality and using as little real estate as possible. This approach takes much longer to get just right,(and a hassle when UI updates occur) but in the end the UI is much more intuitive, useful, and non-cluttering*

I made my own raid window... and my own player window... then resized and repositioned everything else... the only interface piece I had downloaded at that time was the eq2map mod although I looked at a bunch.I went to the Profit UI because so many of my guildmates raved about how awesome it was and the "click-to-cure" feature is pretty much mandatory in our guild now... so I needed to at least add that. The reason I don't just pull my player window into Profit is that it is the "default UI" style.. and would look like butt next to the profit stuff. I am half tempted to go back to my old UI and just put in the Profit raid window and group window... but I am convinced I can make this work for me if I can just edit the player window. You can see my player window and raid windows I made here on this "joke" screen shot I made teasing one of my guild mates... photoshop'd his text to make it look like he said the domino's 30 mins abs guy was hot... he was actually saying he wished that guy would just go away. But the rest of the contents is unaltered. The reason the avoidence looks low is they removed the ability to put the whole % in there that's just base avoidence from level not gear etc... and the reason no crits or double attack is listed is because prior there was no way for me to modify those aside from AA's so they were static... that's not true now and I would include those on a new UI mod if I get to it. The main purpose was so I would know when I was berserk or when agitate was in effect... it helps to know when your auto attack DPS is higher than your combat art DPS... and also it lets you know if it's not procing much since a certain patch or whatever.http://www.lcnguild.com/images/news...oudjConfess.jpg

ProfitUI Reborn

used it almost 2 years, even with the patches/hotfixes/GU's it rarely breaks and needs a patch after logging in before updates are available.

Xita wrote:

thats quite a bit of stuff, how does that affect performance?

I don't notice any real performance loss with the custom UI. Maybe a minor drop in fps vs. the default but nothing noticable and I almost always run on High/Extreme quality. I take a bigger performance hit flying into TG or Outer Seb than I do with a full custom UI loaded

I guess it would depend on your machine specs and the pure processing power you have available. The UI is all XML so it's more or less web pages loading with a skin overlay. EQ2 doesn't use the GPU as much as it should, so it's more dependent on your CPU then anything else, with your RAM being the second biggest factor.

For comparison, I run an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ black @3.6ghz, 4gb RAM 4.4.4, 8600 Gpu x2, on an ASUS MN232-SLI Deluxe mobo, with winXP.

... but I have been running a custom UI since basically day one, and for the most part, I have never had any issues with performance due to a custom UI on any of my older rigs either.

Yeah the only performance hits I have ever heard about with a custom UI is the time it takes to zone.
