I have a 70 Bruiser that I played as a tank with a more or less static group from 1 all the way to 70. His gear and AA selections have been totallly focused on tanking. He is decked out in all Legendary and a few Fabled from the vendor (I don't raid), as well as nearly all Masters.

I took a break from the game and recently came back and tried out my Bruiser in RoK, and he is getting spanked by heroics. Like I said, I played a tank all the way up, so I know what I am doing and am dang good at it if I do say so myself, but what is going on with T8?

Another example: I was in Karnors group with a 75 Bruiser in all T7 Fabled and Masters that was our tank. We had 2 healers in the group and it was still touch and go a few times with level 72-74 heroic encounters! So, the Brusier called in a 75 Guardian guildmate in equivalent gear (T7 Fabled, etc), and the Guardian did much much better. What gives? There didn't use to be such a wide gap in tanking heroics...

I am pretty discouraged by this. Am I missing something or did RoK/T8 put a big dent in bruiser tankability?

The good news is, we do just fine in even the hardest heroic zones in RoK, but maybe you have to adjust something. I am not sure what that adjustment would be yet....but lets shed a little light.

1. Karnors Castle is one of the hardest RoK zones. There are 3 that are the hardest in my opinion.....Karnor's Castle, Maidens and Chardock. So we all have had to adjust to those. You wont be able to tank those til you are around 80 if not 80.....and you will possibly need 2 healers. Just the way it is. Since we dish out such good dps, the extra healer that a plate tank wouldn't need is ok since we r dpsing in the group as well. But anyway...it is what it is.

2. As you saw with EoF, the mobs hit harder there, and the trend continued with RoK. They are just really tough buggers. It's more the way it should be in my opinion. But that is up for debate of course as it's an opinion, but to stick more to objective stuff, because of how hard the mobs hit, the spike damage is very hight when they land. The plate's have much better mit and are easier to keep healed for the most part. So it's no doubt the Guardian did better than you, they can't solo fer chit but they tank the best of all.

3. Our avoidance may be messed up. I hear others talk of this, so I am not sure, but there may be somnething there to that. I have a self buff of around 63-64% avoidance in balanced stance but when I get hit, it could leave a mark

4. Once you get the higher tier Legendary stuff, you will do alot better. The quests drop these things alot now, so it isn't tough to get decent gear. And once you get faction in Kunzars Jungle/Jar Wastes, you can buy some decent stuff too til you quest for better and get drops.

5. Once you hit prolly 78, you should be able to tank CoA just fine and there are like 9 named in there. So you will get some nice leather armor there, just live there. You also should hit Vaults/ Maidens and Chelsith too in that range but you won't tank those til your 80 and decently equipt.

6. I don't raid at all and now, slow;y but surely, I am doing just fine tanking all these zones but Maidens...never tryed it, may be a little bit away from that gear wise yet. It's funny....I was in all MC stuff with very little Legendary on when I started to play around in Fens. I came across a green heroic and was killed very fast...or I FD...but either way, yea, it was a wake up call. Then just the other day, in much much beter gear, high end Legendary/little fabled jewlery, I tryed a green heroic in Chardock while I was killin time, and I did really well even though I couldn't take him...lol...it was almost close. So, gone are the days of blowing through those like yesterday's news...ain't happening. BUt you will tank just fine. Njoy.
