"The version of Microsoft Vista you're running may cause Everquest II to have resource problems. Please update Windows Vista..."... I'm fully update; Windows Update lists no updates available. What do I need to do?

You need optional updates for windows vista.http://www.vistax64.com/vista-games...ory-gaming.htmlSome of the updates might apply to you, but it sounds like you are gonna need the memory updates, sli updates, dx10 fixes, and ugh... others. Just follow the link, copy and paste the KB(number) and search Microsoft for them. You will need to validate with each download, so get ready for some tedious clicking.

Welcome. Vista has alot of extra features that supposedly makes it handle memory alot better, but with all the fixes we all know how well that worked out. But atleast it looks nice. I have 64 bit too and I like it, it took some playing with it and getting used to. Now it runs like a dream.

That worked like a charm, thanks so much for quick reply.Yeah, I pretty much had to go with Vista 64, as I built with 8GB RAM. E8400, 8Gb RAM, HD3870X2 card. Oh yes... I love it.

8gigs is alittle overkill dont you think? Are you encoding live video/audio? Are you doing what a MAC is designed for? I would scrape the 8gigs of ram and go for a faster ram, but at 2gigs or 4 gigs.

I don't think it's overkill at all. MMOs are massive RAM hogs, every one of them. And all I play are MMOs.

However, running additional applications and even VM's while running an MMO is perfectly acceptable on a 8GB of RAM system!

Using the /PAE and /Large Address in the boot.ini will allow you to extend beyond the 2GB limit!
