Summoner duo with my paladin?

<p>I have a good friend who is wanting to start playing with me and they like the idea of a caster, particularly a summoner.</p><p>I am only low level at the moment so don't have a good feel for whether a conj or necro would work better.. or whether another type of caster would be a significantly better choice.. as he could possibly be persuaded away from summoner..   please could you advise?</p>

<p>I prefer necros.</p><p>I spent a long time avoiding Conjurors in groups b/c a good number of them either had an ego about always having their tank pet up and not letting the real tank actually tank, or they just did not understand aggro control.</p><p>Necros generally generate less hate for some reason. Not sure why. Honestly though, either will do fine if he's going to play one, if it's a duo, the fact that necros can heal is a big boon IMO. Conjurors do get a healer pet in later levels though and I've seen/experienced the healer pet healing as well as a druid actually.</p><p>Now if you're going to do more than duo, I say warlock <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/908627bbe5e9f6a080977db8c365caff.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /> but that's just because they're so AE and damage oriented that they make GREAT amends (hate siphon) targets.</p>

<p>I got my conjuror up to 64 and decided to two box.  Looked at all the boards about the most effective combos and made my second box a paladin.  It may not be THE most effective duo but the paladin brought a lot to the table (tankage and heals).  Plus I just enjoy the paladin class from a role-playing perspective.  I've got the paladin up to 35 and most of those levels were with the conjuror duo.  Paladin does an excellent job at tanking and can heal just fine, allows me to use my DPS pets which would not have been the case had I gone the healer route so mobs go down real fast.  </p>

I two box a pally/necro as it was taking too long in Kunark to level them individually.   I am really enjoying the pairing, they go great together, especially since both can heal and rez.  Plus when I attack a named, undead tide and lifeburn make any mobs die in seconds while never losing agro to the pally.
