I went for 2.5% power.

i did the tick.. hehe not sure either really matter as in solo you should have mob long dead before you run out of power. i took it as you may end up with more and more mobs jumping you during a fight. if your root is taking you can keep blasting them and stay out of harms way but if you run out of power its game over

For a wizard i believe the 5 tick regen is useless, in any fight be it solo, grp or raid having extra 5 tick wont give you enough mana to cast a buff. Best bet is more power, in this case only.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably go with the extra power pool since power regen in combat sucks anyways. Either way I doubt it's ever really going to make that much of a difference.

I know of serveral wizards that raid hardcore go for 2.5% to health, extra life to live from an aoe is for more production then regen at there point in game.

Key example is soloing nest in Barren Sky with my wizard when he was lvl 70, the final named took me 28 minutes the first time to kill and I got it down to about 8 for my fastest kill on him you had better believe that I was happy I had regen at that point.

In a raid it depends on your normal group setup and gear. Also depends on your power pool to when the 5/tick is better then +2.5% power, if you have say a 3k power pool then the 2.5% will add ~ 75 power and at 5/6seconds thsi means that after a minute 18 seconds you will have broken even on power, anythign longer and the regen is better as long as you arent capped.

Also the max power is only really useful if you start every fight at full power, if not you really dont get much of a benefit.

For me, a L50 wizard with 3684 power, +2.5% power is 92. A +regen of 5 per tick will equal 92 power in 110 seconds. So for any fight shorter than about 2 min the +power is worth more than +regen. For longer fights the regen is better. If you have more total power you will need more than 2 minutes for regen to be worthy.

I guess a better way is to say that it takes 110 seconds from the time you start using your power from full to overcome the extra power benefit, so stuff like chain pulling mobs will increase the time between full power and increase the benefit of the power regen.

However max power will increase damage from manaburn if you are specced that way.
