Well, I will start off by saying that I am currently level 78 and I am not a very active forum poster, I will probably not post any updates or replies to this. The first thing is you need to get to level 50. This is not hard at all. Wizards are a fun class to play and if you get really bored before 50, wizard isnt the right class for you.Once you are 50, you get Ice Comet. Go to whatever extent you must to get this at adept III.Also, the Ball of Fire line is a good line to keep adept III, but check to see if you get the chance to upgrade to master II (like Ball of Fire can be master II at lvl 24, Ball of Incineration m2 at 54 etc)Now, for techniques, you should group until you have ice comet really. Get plenty of upgrades on your DOT spells (Damage over Time) up to level 50. A lot of people spend extensive time mining to get every single spell at adept III. This is not worth it until you get into t8, which i will explain later. Some people say INT caps at 7 times your level or something. I equip/remove items that give me int and i have 998 int atm, it still effects me so that is a load of bo yang.now, for group technique:1. Ice Shield your MT2. Put all DoT spells on mob3. Nukes Inbetween DoTsRinse and Repeat.Simple!Solo:1. Ice Comet or higher (Use Catalyst and Freehand Sorcery before casting if you have)2. Root (Truss/Shackle or even Ring of Cold and upgrades. Is Safer to keep 2 roots on a mob)3. Nukes such as ball of fire(or better), lightning burst(ob), and Flame Chamber(ob, it stuns mob too like ice comet)4. Check Roots(recast if needed)5. Keep nuking and Rooting until mob diesI have soloed heroics up to 5 levels higher than me using this technique. I usually use Ice Comet and then Flame Chamber now as step 1 as they both stun target, then Flame of Velious(slow them down), then root.Thats all really, root + nuke. For AA, I went max on first int, then STR as follows (down the line as i go from left to right): 6-4-4-8-1 (the 6 can be a 4, i just put 6 so I could carry boxes)Then Wis as follows: 4-8-4-8-1I havent put anything else in yet as my AA lvl isnt high enough, but i am thinking Agi for casting speed. Also got 10 is wizard line for magis shielding, 5 fortify elements, 5 Vital Conversion, 5 accord, 5 Vitalic cropping(those last 4 sets of 5 to get Manaburn), 3 rending icicles, 5 Ice Comet, 3 Storming Tempest, 5 Fission, 3 Electron Storm and 1 Solar Wind. Unsure what i will do with next 9 points i got to spend in this tree.Have Fun!

<p>Wizards Creed is Root & Nuke!!!</p><p> Having said that, depending on your AA Spec, rooting may not be necessary unless you get ^^ or ^^^ mobs.</p><p> If you have done the STA Line with Manashield, and put points in Magi's Shielding & manaburn. You should be able to burn anything at melee range w/o any problems. However, this is a pure solo / small group spec. Expect to be very badly out dps'd by any melee DPS using this spec.</p><p>Manburn, Magi Shielding, and STA line offer very little utility as a raid spec. Raid spec, it is AGI, WIS maxed and STR line to get the crits up.</p><p>Further indepth discussion can be found in the sticky topic at top which disuccess the raid wizard build, spell/power efficincy, value of spell upgrades, etc.</p><p> Really a must reading for any wizard.</p>

Without your buffs, your real int is lower and it is my believe that the numbers are calculated on "raw" int from gear and traits not buffs. Your actual "raw" int number right now is 834 according to eq2 players. This is the only "real" number SOE uses.J.C.

My only tip...Concussion is your friend! When solo'ing, if you want to pull a mob that is in a crowd use Concussion. This detaunt will cause the mob to chase after you <b>but will not pull social aggro from the other mobs in the crowd</b>.A Concuss, followed by a root works well, who needs to body pull!

Concussion pull never works for any of the fishermen around Danak shipyard or the drakotas (if they are in close proximity to each other) in skyfire. It does work well for what I call "dumb" mobs such as the quatcha , raptors, birds, rhinos and others of that type. RoK is a mixed bag of goods for this type of pulling. But is great below T8.J.C.

Maybee a little effort into your "facts" would help you better understand your class, saying that buffs that increace your int dont really increase your int is silly.</p><p> AA wise if you want max damage then spec agi 4/6/4/8/2 wis 4/7/4/8/2, str 4/4/4/8, speccing int dosent really do that much for you and lowers your dps from what the otehr AA lines provide for you. Agi line is by far the largest increase in dps from the sorcerer AA tree. Also if you solo a lot then specc sta line 4/4/8/8/2 but you can put 6 points into either of the 2 I have listed as 8 for the sta line, the first 8 is for mitigation as this AA will basically double your current mit level with 8 into it, and the second 8 increases disruption/subjagation/focus... which means you will have fewer resists. This may or may not lower your dps, as it means less resists and while you may have a lower parse assuming ever spell lands, this helps to ensure every spell lands and you dont waste casting time for a resist.</p><p>Grouping/soloing the wizzy tree, get manaburn and might as well put 10 points into magi shielding, then throw 5 into tegh debuff and 5 into ice nova, the others are nto all that vital unless you want to get enhance gift and iceshape which will be a nice increase in damaeg group widde if you have a few mages in the group. Go down the heat line to max out Ball of fire as it is one of your best spells.</p><p>My group casting order is Ice shield MT, then Ice spears, Ro's coil, heatwave, ball of magma, then freehand Bolt of Ice or Fission, then magma chamber right after, normally the mob is dead by this time, if not cast flames of velious to snare the mob and back up a littel as you more than likely have aggro, then cast ball of magma again as it shoudl be up. </p><p>Solo mobs just root it , then cast a choas hex doll to debuff, then ball, ice nova, magma chamber, ball, and flames of velious. keep roots up rinse and repeat.</p><p>Also if you want good tips go to eq2flames as most of the top skilled wizards only post there and rarely go to this forum.</p>

I just started soloing in Kylong Plains and at 67 I get alot of resists from solo werewolves only one or two levels above. Would increasing my WIS prevent this?

Subjugation lowers the resistivity of your roots plus some other spells, generally it's attached to any spell that's a control spell. Disruption is the same but for pure damage spells. The only ways to make things less resistive is to either up your spell quality or up your disruption/subjugation. Upping your WIS would just up your overall resistances on your character not on the mobs.

<p>i am posting in reguards to this thread, because i feel it isnt as comprehensive as it could be.</p><p>first off, you do want to get to 50 ASAP, however, some of you may have read the OP's guide and are thinking "HTH do i get to 50 quickly???!!!"</p><p>well, the answer is simple. you dont. sure you can if you have a high level alt, but the majority of the people reading this thread are new to wizzys in general, and usually started one from scratch (the best method imo).</p><p>keep in mind the majority of your way to 50 you will be soloing, so gear up accordingly. personally, i have a wizzy at 42, so i cant speak for over those levels, but its close enough to level 50 for me to give you the scoop on getting to 50 fairly quickly.</p><p>also keep in mind, you WILL need money to do this, MC gear costs alot pre-made, slightly less to have your rares made into gear for you.</p><p>gear-wise, you want int and sta on as much of your gear as you can get. why not stricktly int? well, when soloing, you are an already VERY "squishy" class, so the more sta you have, the more HP you have as well. sure the int will allow you to hit harder, but not enough to warrant the loss of the extra HP gained by the sta on the int/sta setups. that sta comes in IMMENSELY handy when soloing, trust me.</p><p>now, once you hit 20-25, you want to head over to BBM if you have not already, and do the sol ro diety quest at least as high as needed to get the diety perk WotBP (Wrath of the Burning Prince). also, if you have not done so already, master 2/adept 3 your "ball of <insert>", preferably master 2 if you can, it does make a little bit of difference.</p><p>also, work your AA towards getting manaburn. manaburn is not so helpful 50+, but for soloing nameds, 3-5 levels above you, manaburn is a godsend. once you have manaburn, and an adept3/master2 of your ball of___ spell, you can start looking into farming nameds. you need to first clear any trash that may agro the named. then, root the named. keep casting root if it resists the first couple times. rooting is essential for this. once the named is rooted, hit the WotBP key (should have 2 charges if you just got it), and then hit ball of ___. this should take the named down at LEAST 50-60% hp, if not more. then, cast re-root if necessary, and cast manaburn. manaburn takes your mana and does 4 points of damage for EACH point of mana used, up to a MAXIMUM of 50% of the mob's hp. welcome to a dead named, and grats on your first named solo that was ABOVE your current level.</p><p>for the rest of the time, while the WotBP refreshes, just kill like normal, and throw in manaburn as needed. personally, i went from 1 to 30 in less than 4 days. but i didnt wait for vitality either, and the quests i was doing gave good xp for the levels. after 30, it becomes MUCH harder to gain xp that fast.</p><p>for lvl 30-50, you REALLY need your adventuring vitality to level efficiently. i would recommend starting a new toon or two while you wait for vitality on the wizzy. also, you can use up the crafting vitality you may have in the mean time as well. basically you are just biding your time to get 100% adventuring vitality on the wizzy again, usually takes 2-3 days at most. DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT level without vitality, period. you just waste your time, loosing xp that you could have gotten WITH vitality on one toon or another.</p><p>dont forget to save some of your treasured or better gear that you cant use to sacrifice on your altar to get the WotBP perk again as needed. that perk is INDISPENSIBLE for getting aa from named you otherwise would have to wait another 3-7 levels to solo without it. at lvl 42, i have 38 aa on my wizzy from quests and soloing named. i went looking everywhere i could for this also. do not be afraid to find someone to mentor down to to solo a named you havent killed before. most people would be happy to let you mentor them for the xp bonus you provide them by mentoring.</p><p>hope this clarifies the lvl 1-50 portion people may not have known about.</p>
