I put it simple.Fresh Win XP InstallAll Latest driversNice clean computer.. infact its newly built. All other games run fine... I repeat incase you miss it, All other games run fine.. Last came I played was LOTRO more demanding than EQ2 and I run that game full whack, full whack high rez textures isntalled and 1280x768 res.Ok. My specAMD 64 X2 38002gig ramAti X1950Pro 512mbGDDR3This game, I had on balence, looked nice yet runs really bad. So I thought maybe I lower it.. I did Very High Performance.. still bad.About 11 FPS just me standing around.I then did the EXTREME highest Performance, all shadows off and other settings set to low RES 1024x768.....About 20FPS and in battle about 12fps.My question is Why? How can I fix it?Surely the game cant run in low low more stable on my system... Heck it should run in MED graphics with my system [Removed for Content] easy!.I can't continue to play if it's this slow.. and I've only played it for a few hours.. don't wanna stop!I'm shiting a brick when it comes to packed areas.. be like -10FPS.Whyt is this game running really bad?According to ingaem chat people helping me out, state having real old 1.4ghz, 1gig ram and old graphics cards running it fine in MED with 40 to 50FPS and lowest being 30FPS in packed areas.WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm not too savvy with AMD processors and what clock speed that equates to in pentium terms, but there's one thing you need to know: EQ2 does not fully utilize multi-core processors. So you need to assume you're running on a single core.

Assuming you have 2 CPUs running at 2.0 ghz each... in EQ2 you may as well be running only 1 of those 2.0 ghz cpus. I actually run a 2ghz pentium with 2gb ram and your reported FPS is what I'm working with. I run on balanced in open zones, usually high performance in a crowd with as much eye candy turned off as possible. A little more ram will help, but your single core clockspeed is a cap you'll have to deal with. If you post a dxdiag I'm sure some of the tech gurus around here could make some more specific suggestions.

Honestly there are several people that are having issues with FPS. One thing you might want to try to test is see if you can go to an old world area and get any better FPS. In my travels I have noticed that in Kunark the FPS is horrible while in Antonica, Commonlands, it's 40's and 50's. I have a 9600GT card as well.try to go outside of the newer area as I think these issues are isolated to the new area, and cities ect. Basically where a ton of rendering is taking place.

Oh another thing make sure youhave the dual core optimizer downloaded and installed from AMD. I do not have a link but google it. It worked miracles for me when I first started to play this game. I was getting some really weird issues with sound stuttering and stuff like that.

Thanks for hellp!Yea I got the Optimzier on.So I presume this is running only 1 core at 2ghz.. nutty... I think the AMD 2ghz is eqivlent to a intel 3ghz.Scary stuff, that my gfx card which is classed as one of the best atm.. struggles and my PC struggles.. which might not be the best but sure is good.

I gonna get in from work tonight, try one last time

If it runs stuttering, low fps, high ping I think myself and the wife cancel sub.. regret the money spent buying it in first place but save from wasting monthly fees.

Is AOC out soon or War, maybe wife might enjoy one of them or its back to LOTRO.

Okay, forget running in one of the predefined profiles. Go in and tweak the settings individually. Turn off the water, flora and shadows. Turn down the effects. Set the number of high detail characters to 1. Basically set everything at the lowest-end. Then visit Qeynos Harbor, where there's a little of everything but flora. Pick a few things in your top few display options to bring up to halfway, and tinker accordingly. Spend half an hour on it and you'll be surprised with the outcome, I'd wager.

Running a dual core 4200 and twin 7950 GT CO's, watercooled video, 4 gigs, and if I crank everything to max it looks beautiful, but it chugs a bit.

Thanks for relpy and advice!

I've done that excluding visting the old area (I don't see point.. as I have to visit these so called more demanding new areas anway?? so I just have to tweak again and again and again).

I think I said above... amybe I forgot.

I have run everything lowest of lowest to see how it goes, it actaully looked like lego.. even worse lol. Like a game made in 1991!

Staring at a wall it got me 45FPS.. turn around to face a few things even everything set to lowest, everything off got about 30fps and 20 in combat.

Now.. if I gotta play that low performance.. looking that ugly. and boy I try post a screen as it is sooo ugly.... I wont play at all.

Serisouly, if i got to paly the game looking ugly as hell on my steup I just don't fancy it.

Wife on her xp3000, 512mb ram, 9800xt 256ram has it in high performance running better and looks better.
