Another looting issue, another post... I just wanted to let people know about this potential problem so they can avoid it (hopefully).

Here is the situation: We are in a group in Maidens. An ornate treasure chest drops with 3 items. Item #1 is treasured. Item #2 is no-drop legendary and is usable by "John". Item #3 is also no-drop legendary, and is usable by "Sue". Unfortunately, when the loot window was changed to be resizable, the default size was changed to be smaller, so John did not realize that there was an Item #3. He clicked "All", and not only won Item #2, but also won Item #3 against Sue. (He didn't say, but he probably got 2 confirmation boxes which must have been confusing. He probably just clicked through them, not even realizing what was going on.)

I have to admit that this was entirely John's fault, however, it is really unfortunate because I know John and he is a nice guy (though with on-line game games you can never really be sure). John did not want to take loot that only Sue could use. I am bringing the issue up for 2 reasons:

1. Some people might not realize that 2 no-drop items can drop in a chest, and hopefully after reading this post, they will be more careful, and therefore avoid being "John" in this situation.

2. I am not certain what the solution is, but it would be nice if the game designers could figure out a way to avoid this problem.

So now I will give my opinion: People who create warning boxes have good intentions, but the warning boxes are still icky in various ways (if you know what you're doing they are just annoying, people click through them too fast, you can see the name but not the item in the warning box, etc.). Instead of making a better looting or warning box, may I suggest that you give people an Undo option. For EQ2, that might mean that for 2 minutes after looting an item from a treasure box, you are allowed to put it back in the box. With this solution, you don't need an "Are you sure?" warning box, and if you make a mistake, you can easily correct it. (And yes, I realize that this conceptual solution would probably require a huge amount of work to implement.)

Mayl wrote:
resize your loot box.. problem solved
I believe it's meant as a warning t people to be careful so that you don't accidentally loot something you shouldn't... Anyway, thanks, Laralma.. I almost did the same thing two days ago, but noticed the two confirms

Hiya.Prior to GU43, every loot window had its own location and size. This would cause loot windows to appear to not remember the last place you put it.With GU43 we made a change so that all loot windows should pop up at the same location but their appears to be a bug with it. I'm working on it and should have it fixed by GU44.

I've found that ever since the loot changes just how much players DON'T look at the loot window and just click whatever button they want without even thinking about it or even what the button says. It takes less than a second really.ke'la wrote:

they need to scroll

You would think that a scroll bar would enough of an indicator that there are more items. But anyway an option to have a resizing window would be a very welcome one in my eyes. Also requested this before but a when using Need/Greed if every item can have it's own window would be very cool too.
