I played EQ2 from DoF up thru EoF, then I took about a year off and just came back in February. I have never had this issue until now, and it happens every couple of hours. I crash to my desktop and get the following message:

Fatal Error

EverQuestII has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.

<verify> E:testeq2frameworkrendersrcVeShader.cpp (8567):m_pPixelShader

My only fix attempt was to update my graphic card drivers and that did nothing for me, any ideas?

(I've actually deleted it a few times myself when the game acted a tad wierd)

Hubby has been getting an error like this on his XP install too. He formatted and reinstalled XP and it still happened, then he installed Vista on another drive and tried EQ2 on that and it no longer happens. I play EQ2 on Vista because I used to crash out on XP as well, though I think that was a different error to this (out of memory error as I recall - with 2gb ram lol).Anyway for hubby this started with I think the last LU or the one just before. He has even switched out the video cards a couple of times (switching from Nvidia card to Radeon for example to be sure it wasn't video card causing it.) He has better graphics on the lower end Radeon now but that's another story lol.

I got the same error on my xp home as you so has my sister and wife. All totaly different pc's with different hardware so the only thing that got in common is eq2's last update its something in that which has done it.

As in my last post thay asked for error logs which i gave them but it dont look like tha have even looked at it since well hope thay sort it soon or thay could lose another 3 players :0

I've been having the fatal error too. Appeared a few times so far and most times, I think, I've been in Varsoon. Very annoying when you just spend 20mins getting a group!!

The guys "solved" it with disabling the dynamic combat music. But this doesn't work in my case.

Sorry for my bad english. But if I post in the German-Forum nobody cares about our technical problems.

I hope someone reads this thread an we get answers to solve this problem!

There is no out of memory (2GB and memory usage shown) and no other indication why it happens. also tried some of the cache emptying and other stuff but no luck

well i have tried everything i have even built a new pc with nothing except eq2 on it and windows xp home. Tried it without any windows updates and with its the samething so i wish sony would spend some time trying to fix this as vista uses to many resorces and i hate the [Removed for Content] operating system anyhow lol.

100% agree to Kevla

The support is simply lousy!!!

Only one reply from the support and this one reply was a question!!!!!

I solved the problem by deinstalling and deleting all. Then I installed the game completly new. This cost me plenty of time, but now all seems to work.

The next time i have a similar problem and there's no support by SOE, i will give SOE the finger and you will have one customer less!!!!!
