I have talked to a few people and they have said that swashies do really have a place in raids. Is that true? i find hard to believe.

We can debuff the hell out of mobs, we parse high damage, and we can transfer hate to the tank. So yes, we do have a place in raids
You kidding? A raiding guild will snap up any raiding swashy they can find. We kick [Removed for Content] in the upfront damage of raids.

Every raid needs a swashbuckler for the feathered hat factor.

I'm in a casual guild that doesn't raid much, but I raid with many different raiding guilds. My experience has been that the Swashy can do a lot of DPS, debuff the mobs a fair amount, but our shining feature is our hate transfer.

A downside is that the hate transfer should really only go on to the Main Tank (usually in group 1). So in this case, besides the other notes above, one swashy is usually sought after in raids for that trait.

At level:

20: Swarthy Distraction34: Swarthy Deception48: Swarthy Diversion62: Swarthy Disorder

80: Sleight of Hand

Slight of Hand works differently then the hate transfer "buffs", but it's our signiture skill.

~Quilem Quickblade, Blackburrow

In every raid I have been in lately they used an Assassin because their transfer is 40% I was told. So I end up in the misc DPS group.

Am I missing something here or is ours just another also ran skill like everything else we have (someone else seems to have a much better version)

Kilbane

They DO have one thing we don't... a poison proc buff that they can throw on the MT to boost his aggro. However, with our epic, we should be able to funnel more hate to the MT now.

As far as dps, we have decent dps. Through much tweaking and playing around with gear, etc. I was fairly consistantly getting 1st or 2nd on the parse last friday's raid.

Our debuff's are fairly useless since SoE nerfed offensive buffs. There was a time when our offensive buffs made a difference... that time has long since past. The only REAL utility we bring is minor magic/divine debuffs, mit debuffs and hate transfer. The rest have been nerfed out of existance, sadly.

Debuffing the offense of the mob and Hate transfer. Our guild interchanges assassins and swashbuckler's in MT group depending on the encounter. If you want AOE hate transfer then go the swashy. If you want single target then Assassin should parse higher and generate more aggro. Also if your running a MA its worth having the swashy in MT group to spread the swipe around (assuming you have another rouge in the raid).
