I decided to make a wood elf swashbuckler as my main. I just need some help in determining what tradeskill to use. Is there a good website with a lot of tradeskill info? Any input would be helpful.

When you check the stickied topics here at Newbie Yard, you will find helpful links such as http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/news_page.php for good tradeskill info. For a swashie, there are some good choices as crafter. You can go for jeweller to craft your own combat abilities and jewellery, or go armorer for your chain armor. Also helpful could be provisioner for food, alchemist for potions and poisons, weaponsmith for your weapons.

THe previous poster did mention some "good" tradeskills that you could do each with their own benifits, really in the end my best suggestion is pick something that you like or fits you personally. The reason for this is your going to be doing that for a very long time (takes a long time to get from 1 to 80) and it would be a pain to do something just cause you felt you had to. I leveled my provisioner on my main toon and also leveled a sage on an alt. Frankly the sage felt more like work to me, which basically the only reason i made the sage was to make all of my AD3 spells. I think in the end it still would have been cheaper to have someone else make them for me instead of spending all of the time harvesting and grinding levels. Note: i would suggest strongly reguardless of profession to grind your levels doing Tradeskill writs. The bonus tradeskill is wonderful, you also get faction with your tradeskill society, get some status, and some coin too.

Thanks for the reply guys. I decided to do Alc for poisons. I didnt see in that website what harvest is needed for alchemy. I know in WoW for Alchemy you need Herbalism. Does the same go with EQ2 where a harvest goes with a tradeskill? Like Alchemy-Gathering?

anybody can harvest anything, as long as you keep the skill high enough.ie: everyone has a mining, gathering, foresting, fishing, trapping skills, you just have to keep them high enough.Alchemist was roots (gathering), pelts (I think, don't exactly remember) (trapping), and soft ores (mining).

I would have to agree, craft what you enjoy doing. It is a LONG way to leveling up to 80.. doing so without any enjoyment is a pain...Besides eq2traders, there is also Eq2Alchemy... Both have some great info on it and were created by players.
