Hey guys, I have a pretty good understand of how this all works but just wanted to post this really to see if anyone else was having this issue. First off I know this issue is not with the card as I can play many other games for hours with this card and have no issue. The issue that I am having is I just purchased a new Nvidia 9600GT. Whatis happening is when I load EQ2 everything is ok, start playing all seems well, then the system will crash, the strange thing about this is, it will crash and my monitor will try to look for a signal, as if my video card basically went out. All I will hear is skipping music and will have to do a hard restart in order to get back up.Tried different drivers, made sure power was going to the card ect, I just have no idea what I can do to fix this. As I said I really wanted to post to see if anyone else has this card yet and are having similar issues with it... or any other g92 nvidia card for that matter. Here is my DX info for anyone who may have an idea.

After reading the forums looks like SOE is having a hard time with the newer video cards... at this point the game is unplayable to me....

EQ2 does have problems with the 8800 cards and now it would appear the 9 series as well, although with a card this new I would be ready to lay a fair portion of the blame on the Nvidia drivers as well. Check your error logs to see what caused the crash.

I assume you are refering to event viewer? If not please excuse my ignorance. I checked eventvwr and there is nothing in it at all. No reference to anything even happening. Normally even when I boot back up windows will come up with the, "your system has recovered from a serious error" message. That is not even happening right now. It's really strange. Takes about 10 minutes of gameplay for it to happen, also I tried tweaking with everything (all modes of play) even Extreme Performace and it will still crash on me, I refuse to change out video cards just to play EQ2.

I have also, just to note, been playing Call of Duty 4 on max settings, Hellgate London, Bioshock, and no issues at all.... just for the record in case any devs read this post.

Could you post your Dxdiag file here, it will help the tech guys in locating the possible problem

I am likewise having the same problem with my BFG 9600 GT OC. I bought it yesterday and have been playing for about 10-12 hours straight. The reason for this is because I was running the game on High setting with a great frame rate, and everything seemed fantastic. However a couple hours ago, about 9 hours into my play time with the new card, it started to crash just as the maker of the post described. It would just stop feeding information to my monitor and then I would hear the sound skipping in the background. I however am running on Windows Vista and have not tried any other games yet.

DX Diag information is in the post .... 2nd post down. However, I was doing a ton of research on this yesterday and came up with a ton of infomation. This might be realted to the card and the actual chipset on the card. This seems to be an issue with the superclocked editions and the overclocked editions, why this is only happening with EQ2 for me is a mystery. Here is what I found so far.http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m...ey=If anyone finds anything out please post here.

I am starting to think it may have been a batch of chipsets that were shippped from nvidia that were bad. EDIT:Melrakki what version are u running and do u know the speed the core is running at in the bios? Just trying to see if it might be an issue with the overclocked cards.

I wanted to note here that some discussion is going on about the motherboards being used with these cards. If the motherboard is older and uses a PCI-E 1.0 spec, there could be some oddities. The 9600GT uses the 2.0 spec.DiscussionPlease note...there is not suppose to be an issue, but a rare occurrence could show itself in this type of setup. How old is the motherboard? What type, model, etc. Thanks

My board supports 2.0 for sure. I came across this article and it seems that the overclocked cards seem to have these issues, this is actually a pretty interesting article for anyone who is interested in tech/video card stuff:http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.p...amp;postcount=1EDIT: I am going to try to under clock my PCI-E bus in my bios when I get home tonight and see if this helps.

Bringing this back to the top just got a new card this is still happening. Thinking maybe a driver issue with certain games or something. Anyone else having this issue. Trying to gather some info on system specs and a common denominator.

I bought a BFG 9600 GT OC on Sunday.

I have crashed during raids like an hour of play. This happened in Emerald Halls on Sunday. Crashed 2 times.

I have also Crashed just logging in and standing in JW doing nothing and boom crash 10 - 30mins of being logged in to the game.

So I called BFG and talked to tech support. They told me to run 3DMark to see if my card will crash and to uninstall EQ2 and re-install. My card didn't crash at all but my score wasn't really high either. score = 6500

So I uninstall all drivers and EQ2. I go through all the long updates. I then log in and goto lava storm and put my settings on Extreme. My FPS was between 7 - 25. I harvested there in the lava fields for 1 1/2 hours.

I was then asked to be in a group in for CoA so I set my performance back to balanced. I port to Qeynos then caught the boat to KP.

I fly to the Fens. I get the post and goto Bathid Watch to look at the new recipes. On my ride there I crashed.

After this crash I install CoD4 demo. I played that for a few hours no crash.

I now have called BFG again. They have now recommended me to run a stress test on the card called Passmark.

They also recommended to wait for new drivers.

I am thinking this card can't relibly be used to play EQ2. My gut tells me there is a conflict with the game and the card. Like the game is requesting something to be done and the card doesn't support the command. Then the card crashes.

BFG suspects that Sony will need to have an update for this card or future drivers from nvidia will fix the problem.

Yeah I am frustrated and I don't want to put my 7600GS back in my computer..

BTW no logs are written when the video card seems to stop working.

My computer build is:

ASUS P5LD2 MB

AMI Bios - 1903

PentiumD 3GHz

2gig - DDR2 PC4200

ANTEC NEO 550 Power Supply

Ok I just returned that old card to the store and picked up a new EVGA SC Edition which is running at 675MHz. This seems to be working now? I ran EQ2 for about 4.5 hours last night and was successful. Also played CoD4 for like 45 min and everything seemed to be ok. So this might be a card issue...

Update on my BFG 9600GT OC.

I am now pretty confident that it isn't the card that is the problem. I ran a burn in test and had no issues. I then downloaded the demo for Crysis. I heard this game can can bring some of the best systems to their knees.. I ran the entire demo on High settings and played for 2 hours or so. It ran beautifully no problems what so ever.

I am now going to run EQ2 in High Quality mode one step under Balanced. I am still thinking there is some conflict with a setting the game has and the video card. Maybe something isn't truely backwards compatible. When I get a chance I'll try to post my DX info.

On a side note I even over clocked my cpu to 3.3Ghz and had no issues.

non overclocked 3DMark score = 6500

Overclocked 3DMark score = 7150

From what I can tell my scores are pretty good for being a Pentium D 3Ghz with PC4200 ram.

Try cranking up the graphics settings and then completely disable the Flora option. Some 8800 users have found that increases their performance.Send me a PM and let me know how it works out for you.
