View Full Version : Ranged Class
Having always played ranged classes (Rifleman in SWG , Hunter in WoW ) is there no ranged bow class for evil side ? If i betray a ranger from Q it becomes an assasin right ?

Rangers and Assassins are a Good/Evil pair. If you betray a ranger, you will become an assassin and vice-versa.

Assassins can certainly use bows, but their combat arts are more weighted to up-close stealth attacks. Rangers also have these close-in attacks, but three times as many bow CAs. You can compare the Ranger Combat Arts to Assassin Combat Arts at EQ2 Game Data Spell Lists and Racial Traditions.

There are other classes that fight at range - wizards, for example, lob fireballs, but are not well-suited to close-in melee. Another class to consider are furies. Furies are healers, most of their damage comes from nuking, and I have seen furies that specced for DPS instead of healing and dished out the damage very well.

There is no pure ranged class in EQ2 as far as physical damage is concerned. The only classes always fighting at range are mages and most healers.Rangers get a lot of bow attacks but also several close combat abilities. To get the most out of a ranger you have to use both.

Assassin is as close to a Ranger (Good Ranged) as you'll get unfortunately. Some people compare the two because they share a few combat abilities. But, they are night and day and the Assassin is more like a Brigand/swashy hybrid with a passing knowledge of the bow.
