View Full Version : Training in pierce and crush?

As a new Guardian I was just wondering if it's common practice to keep your piercing and crushing skills up to your level? I'm sure most do it but I was wondering the higher up I go if I'll really only use slashing due to the bonuses it may grant. I'm only level 12 atm but I spent last night getting my piercing and crushing up and it took me about 2 hours to get both up from 6 to 20...which 55 is the max right now for my level. I have no problem keeping them up to speed I'd just hate to know later down the road I've spent countless hours and gold (buying those type of weapons) keeping them up, only to find out that crushing weapons are only giving me bonuses to my wisdom or piercing to my intelligence. Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks

Being able to use any of the three types of weapons can be useful when you get a new weapon that is better than what you are using. It is not that important to keep the skills up that you aren't using because it isn't very difficult to raise them when you need them. If you want to work on one of your "alternate" skills, you don't need to spend lots of money to buy weapons -- just buy one from the npc vendor or even use one much lower level than yourself. Find some green mobs and start swinging at them -- if you are using a low damage weapon, you won't kill the mob quickly and will get more swings in before it dies (every swing gives you a chance of a skillup, so you want to make lots of swings).

When I was leveling I kept one of each weapon type hot bar'd and switch between then so I would not ahve to go kill greenies dual wielding crap weapons to skill up. I would encourage you to use all 3 types becuase on your way up you never know when a weapon of a different skill s gonna drop that you could really use - if your skill is really low in that area then you will not get full benefit from the weapon and will ahve to go skill it up.

Just afk autoattack a very grey epic mob when you need to raise your skills. Works fine.

i never bothered with a skill until i got a weapon with that skill and then picked one of the several methods mentioned for skilling up. even in group with a new weapon that is say only skill 120/325 you will still hit most mobs fairly consistently and i just never really worried about the skills as much as some do until you really need to rely on them.

It seems it used to be more important when there were enemies that were considerably resistant to certain types of damage, but that's long gone from the game unfortunately.

I just don't like to go back and do things I could have done already: very easy to hot bar one of each weapon and use it every day. Then yur skill is always maxed.

Just remember when you are higher level there is a nifty wall with an enormous amount of HP in Kunzar jungle that doesn't attack back... It is for training or something

You just have to beat on it until it breaks. I think it's a level 76 wall...
