Hi folks,

I've recently started playing EQ2, and having played a rogue in EQ1 for many years I decided to make a swashbuckler...

I seem to slaughter my way through most mobs up to yellow con and blue con heroic ^ with ease, however looking at the EQPlayers leaderboard my "Highest Melee hit" appears to be awful in comparison with other characters.

I've listed both mine and a comparable level swashbucklers profile as an example below (Note: The other character profile is picked at random and isn't someone I know)

My Profile

Comparable Swashbuckler

Now for stats. My stat first, comparable swashbuckler second:

Level               = 38, 35Strength          = 210, 145Agility               = 209, 179Attack              = 710, 622Weapon          = 11-33/1.6, 11-34/1.6Best Melee Hit = 712, 1343The acheivements are comparable and my backstabs are all Master I/Master II.

So my question is: How can a similar character 3 levels lower than me with less attack and far less strength do nearly twice my maximum hit?!

Am I doing something really really wrong?

As a side note the random character chosen isn't even the highest hitter in my level range, between level 32-39 I'm not even in the top 100 highest hitters on my server. So it's not a case of the character I chose is an exceptionally hard hitter, they seem in the majority.

Any ideas?

Edit: BB Code doesn't work :/

At a guess, I'd say the other players increases are from grouping - additional strength buffs and crits would probably account for it.

If you're only soloing, you're restricting your dps capability by quite a bit.

Do group buffs really double your damage output?!

I've only grouped once and that disbanded after about 15 minutes as our tank disconnected and never came back :/

Other than that I've pretty much just been soloing.I just thought it was a bit naff that I've worked to get the stats and items I've got and I'm not even in the top 100.

Still, I'm enjoying the game and that's what counts

yes they do increase your damage and if for example you have 100% dps buffed not mod but actual percent your autoattack will hit twice as hard

Leaving you 380 from cap and no where close to diminished returns curve. For flat out hard single melee hits your going to want your str, dps mod and melee crit buffed as high as possible along with a weapon that has a large damage spread with a high top end number for massive crit hits.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I have grouped a few times with guildies over the weekend and my damage did go up a great deal.

However, I think the main factor was that previously I didn't have my Legend and Lore attack.

Now I've got it my highest melee hit has jumped from just over 1000 to over 2500!

Now I'm feverishly doing each and every L&L quest
