I am coming back to EQ2 after 2 years or so of down time. I finished the 4 hours of updates last night and played around with a new character for a few minutes before passing out. I noticed some drastic changes that raised some questions. Sorry if these have been answered a million times...- I started as a level 1 Warlock??!! Did the whole job progression thing get removed from the game? I remember having a 3 step process to get to an end job which involved quest and level requirements. I was suprised to have to pick my job at character creation and have it at level 1.- This is sorta related to the first item, but in going through a job progression you received abilities from the base jobs. So even through once you reached the level to be a Warlock, you could still use elemental spells aquired from your sorcerer days. Does this still hold true? I only got to level 3 or so as it was late when the updates finished.- After creation, it dropped me into the city. Has the new adventure island been removed? It's not a big deal, but it did add to the story of a new job instead of just dropping you into the main world with no introduction.- Now that you can start in two locations, is there any advantage to the newer second city over the original? My race is evil, so it would be Freeport or the new city. Thanks for any responses.

Keeping it brief since I'm at work and dodging the boss

Yes, they removed the multistep system you needed to do ie start as a generic mage , then choose a subclass ie sorcerer, then choose wizzard.

Now you choose your class and away you go with your own unique class spell line. (The odd spell here and there is used by multiple classes).

Depending where you start varies the eqivalent to the Noob isle back in the old days.

Yes..there is a big advantage here. Start in Timerous Deep or failing that go immediately to Timerous deep and do the quest lines there. They will get you to lev 20 doing fun solo quests which are well linked. Plus the biggest bonus are the quest rewards. Some fantastic gear that you will have trouble beating till into your 30's .

Good luck and Welcome back

Depending on what race/class/alignment combo you choose you can start in any of the 5 starting areas, Qeynos Refugee Island (can't think of the name), Outpost of the Overlord (Freeport), The Nursery (Kelethin), Darklight Woods (Neriak), and Timorus Deep (Gorowyn, newest area added with RoK).- Now that you can start in two locations, is there any advantage to the newer second city over the original? My race is evil, so it would be Freeport or the new city.

The quest rewards availble in Timorus Deep are above and beyond most rewards from any other starting area. The progression is smoother and some of the enviroments just plain look better. Thanks for any responses.

Np, wb!

Thanks for the quick replies! I did pick a new zone, and I didn't realize they each had their own newbie islands - that must of been what thrown me off. I did like the job progression system, but oh well it was a minor thing that was done early on anyway. Thanks for the tip on Timerous Deep. I am going to recreate anyway as I picked defaults on character appearance just to play around since it was late.
