I'm having the exact same problem with the crashing to desktop. It happens after the game loads (past the entity resources and all that stuff) and immediately when I get to view the game world, and it'll just crash to desktop with no error message whatsoever. It only started *after* yesterday's patch. Everything else on my computer works fine.

Doesn't look like it, but seems confined to certain people though. Another friend of mine has the exactly same issue as us whereas the rest of my guild are running just fine.DxDiag available here for reference if needed.<a href="http://www.thermonuclearexchange.com/files/DxDiag.txt" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.thermonuclearexchange.co...iles/DxDiag.txt</a>

I am also having the same problem.  I get disconnected at the character select screen, or sometimes, I can get into game but get disconnected there within 1 min.  No problems with connectivity until the latest patch.

Me and my friend are also having the game crashing to desktop when we try to run it.Strange thing was, we were able to play the game after the "latest patch [Removed for Content] server down". Then we log for a while and tried to play again and this crashing problem occurred.

I'm sorry you guys are having problems.I noticed you're both from Singapore, maybe we should rule out the ISP issues first.   Anyone else having this problem since the last patch and NOT from Singapore? Are you all running Vista?  Are you all using 8800 video cards? Thanks for posting your DxDiag, its very helpful.

I am from HongKong. Have the same issue. but the point is, I could play for like an hour after yesterday server up. But I cannot load the game since 10 hours ago. I have 2 computers, both Vista and XP. none of them are using 8800 video. ( should be 6600GT and 8400GS )

Kaerin
02-27-2008, 05:14 AM
Thanks Rothgar!!I'm running on XP and service pack 2.My graphics card is a 8600 GT. So far i didn't have any problems when i played last night but that was before the update. Now i'm just crashing to my desktop. Any idea how we can resolve this..seriously want to get back in-game...lol

Believe it or not, I still have SWG (Starwars Galaxies) and that is also unplayable as well. Getting "Lost Connection to SWG" within 1 minute of logging in. SOE must have done something to both games.</p><p>PS: Using 32-bit Vista and Nvidia 8600GTS card here.</p>

Not too sure about that,Pawa..though i was hoping it was a case of deleting a file here and there and letting the EQ2 patcher re-update..sigh..guess not.Any word from Sony or Rothgar about this? Everytime i start the patcher,i'm hoping there'll be a small patch for EQ2 which will solve this.

Same problem. I'm also from Singapore.Started this morning, had been playing for bout 3 hours without any problems. Then i tried to zone from neriak to DLW and got booted straight to windows.Tried logging in and got the wrong user name / password message.Sometimes I can get into the game but will get booted without fail within 2-3 mins.Other times I don't even make it in game, just get the invalid login message or straight boot to windows with no message.Got paranoid, thought maybe i had been keylogged or something. So i went and changed my password. Didn't help, still getting the same error. As of half an hour ago, managed to log in and could actually run my brigand to the fair at DLW.Decided to log for dinner and upon my return to norrath....Logged in but got booted...HALP PLS...<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/0320a00cb4bb5629ab9fc2bc1fcc4e9e.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

Same problem as you folks. I logged before patch last night and only just played (Approx 7.30pm Singapore GMT +8 time) and it sent me straight out. Folks in my guild are logging in fine (They're from America and Britain) so it's something on our end it seems.Singapore, Starhub here. I thought it might've been Starhub's fault, but looks like Singnet customers are getting hit too so not too sure about that.Running WinXP, SP2, 8800GTS here. -------On a completely unrelated and off-topic note. Asians/Singaporeans please feel free to /join najena.singapore for the Singaporean channel, and move to Antonio Bayle for a better, richer, life. And raids. *nods*

<p>i suspect that during the last patch, soe must have reduced the tolerance for the ping from our side - so anything with latency over, say, 200 or 300ms, automatically gets chopped off by the server...</p>

Okay..for the record,i was in for 15 min this afternoon before i got booted off..now it looks like its back with a vengeance.Stayed for a few seconds before i crashed. Man,this is seriously starting to p_iss me off. Why isn't SOE doing anything about this? Its like the whole of the asian side is getting the "you are from asia therefore must be a gold farmer" treatment. Right now,i'm speaking like this coz i'm p_issed so if this offends anyone..apologies.

I'm from SG too and experiencing the same problem. ISP is QALA.After the patch last night (<span class="NewsSelectionHeaders">02/25/2008 at 7:00 AM PST</span>), I was able to login with no prob and managed to play till around 7-8 <b>PM</b> PST when the game suddenly threw me back to the desktop. I relaunched the game (saw a file being patched but cannot remember what's the filename) and managed to get to the character selection screen with no prob. Upon selecting  a toon to enter the game, I was thrown back to the desktop again during loading. I've deleted the toon's profile, disabled custom UI and deleted the cache folder but the problem still persist, either during the loading time before a toon enters the EQ2 world or after a few seconds in it. I've tried several toons with the same result.SOE, please help...

Kaerin
02-27-2008, 11:08 AM
Actually,if i'm not wrong, when EQ2 first came out...alot of people had that mentality of it being like Vanguard.A bad game.I'm not supporting or siding with SOE on this but its a game i've been wanting to try and form my own opinions about. Its like when i first started EQ2..people didn't like it and said it was too tough( this was at launch..with huge xp debts and corpse runs mind you) but i still stuck on. People might not like Vanguard but i'll give it a shot anyway.I just PM'ed Rothgar so hopefully he's trying to get it settled though i wish they'll give us an update..like you all,i can't log in and no,i'm not an SOE-fanboy..just followed EQ2 too long to give up so easily now.

my first mmo is final fanasty online, leveling is slow, not many local pple playing. then i switched to eq2 when i just launch, everything is so fun, my first dungeon in stormhold, it give me a creeping feeling no other mmo has doesplayed for the first mth and quit, mainly due to the nasty xp debt and my graphics card that time keep crashing, follow by guildwar, everything seem too easy, no challenge at all...wow - the best mmo overall so far, support is the best among all the mmo i played, usually get response from them within few hrs...i played for past 3yrs, and get sick of the non stop farming dungeon for 6-8hrs daily for gear.dungeon and dungeon online, turbine is so disappointing, never want to buy their game anymore, so i passed on lotrvanguard launched last year, meant to be wow killer, maybe in another 3yrs...my c2d 2g ram and 8600gt can only run at the lowest setting, lag is horrible...soe never provide any technical support at all for vanguard...after looking at the current mmo, i decided to come back to eq2everything looks great, grouping is fun, dungeon give me excitement no other mmo has..until today i couldnt log on... >.<

Well I am from Hong Kong, 20080827 HKT 0800 is ok for my first login after fresh new install of EQ2, on Vista Home, 8800GTS.I am able to run from my last log out location which was almost 4 yrs ago. From Lavastorm to Qyenos, then pay my 5s to enter my long lost apartment. But then like 12 hrs later. Whenever I tried to login with my old character, I will pop back to desktop after logged in no more than 1 min. When I try to create new character, it will say I lost connection.

<p>For those of you wanting to try out LOTRO because your connection to EQ2 is messed up at the moment, here is some food for thought. Last month I had originally wanted to download and try out LOTRO myself, but I realised that I just couldn't connect to their servers, so like what is happening now, I went to their support forums and dug up page after page of technical help threads. To my horror, this is what I found out;</p><p> Apparently back in December 2007, they had implemented a Asia-Pacific wide IP block to prevent practically all Asian players from connecting to their servers <b>WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE</b> about it, not even their forum CMs had any idea of this. After a few days (or maybe weeks), they released an official statement that this was indeed done to stop the influx of gold farmers from Asia, and to the legit players who have been subscribing since day one, they could only say <i>'sorry but this decision will not be reversed'.</i></p><p>I am not kidding, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, South East Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Chinese players were ALL banned from the game without notice, till this day this IP Block is still i neffect. Of course, some players are still able to connect via proxies and what not, but you get the idea. The best part? They continued to bill the players that they blocked quietly. Players also COULD NOT log on to their acct management site to cancel their accounts since they were blocked to the server. </p><p>If you do not believe me, you can check out their offcial forums and dig up their old threads regarding this issue. I was so disgusted by it and hence ended up trying out EQ2 instead. And now I hope the same thing isn't happening <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" />.</p><p> Oh yeah, I am from Singapore too on Starhub cable, and I am experiencing the same issues as all the other posters here. I am from Singapore, was able to log in about 6 pm or so (Sing time) and actually stayed connected for about 6 hours.  (I had been repeatedly disconnected fro the server for most of the day before this.)  When I logged out to the Character Select screen, I was disconnected within seconds (just like earlier).  I had 2 other people try to log in from our house during the time I was logged in, (we are networked together), they were unable to log in..got booted.  I don't know if this might help figure out what the problem is.

Ironically, I am having this issue and I am in California.  I seem to have this problem on both EQ2 and PoTBS.  I get about 15 minutes of play time and then I get booted with the invalid username/password.  Thought this might have been due to the beta station launcher, but I am getting the problem even after I uninstalled it.

I seem to be logging in with no problems right now at 8.30am before raid but I'll stay in game and see if I get kicked. Thanks for the help DanT. Could you let us know what the problem was?--Kaerin: /join downunder and send me (Kheldar) a tell. Me and Calreth play on Antonio Bayle. We probably have enough here to form a proper singapore guild if we ever felt like all moving servers.... <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Great job at hearing us out and resolving the issue, Dan.If I may ask a question, are you at liberty to disclose what was all this about? Did you guys block certain address blocks in other to filter out farmers/spammers, which blocked us out also initially, and by getting our addresses and station login, you effectively added us to a white list of sorts?

They didn't really give me too many details.  I am assuming it was some form of a routing change that had unforeseen problems.  I know it wasn't intentional, and I know they weren't looking to stop people from Singapore from connecting.

My girlfriend and I are unable to stay connected either.  We log in, and after a few minutes both clients crash to character select. There have been no changes to our hardware configuration or software configuration on both machines for months, and this is the only game we play.Bandwidth was tested this morning and is not only extremely fast, but we discovered our ISP actually increased our caps.  No problem with that either.PM'd you with our external IP address for the machines.

At this point the issue in Singapore is over, any issues for people outside of that specific issue will need to create their own posts or contact via PM.  Any PMs I have been sent will be addressed shortly.Locking this thread as I feel it's main topic has now been resolved.  Please feel free to continue with your own separate posts.
