Reds attacking me when i dont attack them

<p>So here i was in DLW me playing a guardian and my parnter both of us being lvl14. We were killin a lvl 14 bruiser and a 13 warden when a lvl25 some and stands and watches the fight and he attakcks me and my partner.</p><p>Now neither me or my fury hit him as he was off in the distance and out of range. I know for sure we didnt hit him cuz it didnt say any where on my comat chat bar that we atacked him, and he wasnt grouped with them.</p><p>Can some one please give me some insight on this. Am i missing something?</p>

<p>Maybe he was grouped with the bruiser you were fighting, but was out of range and you didn't see he was grouped. </p>

<p>if the bruiser was grouped then he would have have the brackets around his name.</p>

There are several possible reasons.  One is grping ewhich u said they weren't.  Another is how many level zone difference there was.  If its a 10 level zone, anyone 9 levels or higher will appear red, so they can be red and still attack.  Another is if somone in your grp was karnaged, then anyone can attack you anywhere. And the last one which you said didn't happen was if someone AOEd and it accidentally hit them, but u said that didnt show up in your window.  Thats all the ways i think.

<p>if he was grouped with the bruiser and not in the same zone the brackets wouldnt have been by his name.</p><p>the brackets are only there if they are in the same zone, the druid zones  in after you attack said bruser and he can kill you. ive been leveling my illusionist in el and have had this happen to me several times.</p>

I'd have to say that either this is some new exploit (not impossible) or that the red con was not in the zone when you first attacked the persons that were in your pvp range.   If they aren't in the zone, then the brackets or arrows won't appear.   They could have zoned in near the end of the fight that would make them able to target you and then you just didn't notice the bracket/arrow changes on your target (if they change at all since they are already targeted).

I thought of another way this could have happened.  The red con could have been mentored but out of your visual range to see.   He could have been near a zone line, and when you attacked the people he was mentored to, he could zone out since he wasn't engaged with the pvp.   When he zoned out, he unmentored, then rezoned.   It may have been a bug where the target window didn't show the red con being in the group.

Hmm I dont know if this could be the answer and I highly doubt it, but one time a lvl 52 Freep Wiz threw a snowball at me and all of a sudden he got in combat and could attack me lol.(I was playing my lv 23 fury). He slaughtered me easily, and he kept doing that to many other lowbies. No idea if it still works, however this did usually happen when we were in combat attacking some other person, he would show up, throw a snowball at one of our group members then kill us all.

I had something like this too.  I was running from the xroads to the FP griff tower in CL.  I had not attacked anything I was just running to the griff.  All of a sudden a lvl 25 q red came and attacked me out of no where, I was lvl 16.  He was a 25 one down...but it makes no difference, he still attacked me.

<p>Someone must have fund a new exploit. I was in Pillar of Flame last night on a 52 brig and I got jumped by a 73 wizzie who whooped my [Removed for Content] all over the place. I was chatting with guildies when it happened - I was standing still, not buffing, certainly not in combat and not grouped. After rezzing, the guy attacked me again, but this time I managed to evac. </p>

By the looks of it many other people are having the same issue, btw it happened again, this fp 21 lvls higher than me yesterday threw a snowball at me (I wasnt fighting, buffing, healing nothing this time) and got in combat with me again!?!? Lol it is geting quite annoying.
