Hi everybody,I started to play on Venekor without any prior knowledge of servers choosing it solely by PVP+RP tags (and WITHOUT EXCH tag). However, glancing across this forum I start to realise 'RP' is more like a tag other than actual style there. My char is just 13 and I don't mind to rebuild it on other server but IIRC, Venekor was the ONLY se rver with the tags mentioned above, so it seems I' ll need to sacrifice 'PVP' on behalf of 'RP withou t EXCH'... So, I want to ask everybody: what server is REALLY RP? Where is RPing widely accepted and actively supported by vast majority of population?

that server has the RP tag to let other RPers know that if they wish to PvP and Roleplay they should go there.

However, if you are really new to EQ2 I would not recommend a PvP server right away. If you are familiar with WoW RP-PvP its nothing like EQ2 PvP. In EQ2 you are a target no matter where you are. If you are new to EQ2, this can be very frustrating.

There is a non pvp RP server...actually two. Lucan D'lere and Antonia Bayle. Whilst they are RP, not many people will RP in the /ooc or lvl channels. Most of the RP takes place in the guilds. I am part of the Antonia Bayle server and I RP a lot. However, the public channels are rather bad.

Find a good RP guild and you'll have a good time. And welcome to Norrath!

I'm a conjuror on Venekor, and went there for that same reason. RP+PvP, exactly what I wanted. I'm rather disappointed, but he guild I am in is perfect. There are a few guilds on the server that RP at all times, on the good side there is Firiona Vie's Champions(fvc.guildportal.com), and the Bridgeburners (Don't know the site).

On the evil side your best bet would be the Shadow Guard (Shadowguard.org).

I recomend you stick with it. I have to say though, FVC is I believe larger, and more active than SG, and FVC also holds some city-wide events, and will hold more soon (I'm not sure if any have been done yet actually). I recomend you check us out if you're on the good side, seriously!

And yeah.. Venekor is the ONLY PvP/Rp server tagged as such.

Friend, if you're on the good side, add me as a friend, and seek me out if you like. I am a constant RPer in-world unless otherwise noted. Find me as Thramir on the good side. I am rarely on Carsshlith, my evil sarnak.

Thanks for advices, I don't mind to be a target anywhere because my last game was even more tough in PVP aspects, so no disappointment. Yes, I heard about RPing guilds but by previous e xperience in other games have some doubts about el igibility being myself a non-frequent player. So, best choice would be totally RPed server with even no-guild players performing roles, don't know if such ones exist in EQ2?

In FVC, you RP yourself, whoever your character is. You don't have a 'role' in a story or anything unless you want to. yuo can play infrequently and still be just fine, so no worries there. But aye, you may personally want to switch to a pure PvP or pure RP server, your choice entirely.

I personally can't imagine leaving FVC, I have some awesome friends here, and the people in general rock.

RP on LucanDLere is alive and well even in the open lvl chat and in many groups. I found that RP in open chat on AB is discouraged by the large contingent of non RPers on that servers that in some cases quite hostile to RP. Never had a problem finding open RP or RP only groups on LDL.J.C.

The RP environment gets diluted with non-RPers, and even anti-RPers. SOE doesn't take an active role in encouraging or enforcing RP servers, so we are kinda left to fend for ourselves As has been said, you are better off getting into one of the RP guilds if you want any kind of immersion or consistancy to your RP. It's a real shame it has to be like that, but hey, that's the way it seems to roll at the moment...

In the beginning, there was RP, and the people saw the RP, and the RP was good. The people rested and enjoyed their RP. Then other people heard of this RP and how wonderful it was. They came to see this RP, and while they did not RP, they were happy, and it was good. Then more people heard about the RP and how good the server was, and they came to see this. They too did not RP, but they liked the RP anyway, and they stayed, and it was good. Then more came that did not RP because they heard of the greatness and might of the server and more and more until one day, they looked around, and the RP was gone. The RP had hidden itself away and secluded itself because it had been ridiculed and injured and openly humiliated and disgraced in its own home...

OK, speaking in layman's terms, the typical life of a RP server is that it starts off being exactly what it is. Then people who don't RP roll on there to be with a more mature crowd. Then they tell other people who roll on there. Those people, who also don't RP, roll or transfer and continue to dilute the population of roleplayers. Eventually, the server grows to such a size that it's larger than normal servers. People beginning rolling or transferring to the server because of its population, ignoring the RP tag upon it's label. They justify this saying that it is "RP-preferred," so they don't have to RP on the server... which, from a technical standpoint, is true. For a while, everything is fine.

And then come the extremists...

There are extremists on both sides: RP and non-RP. There are just as many RP-elitists as there are RP-griefers, and they are every bit as bad as RP-griefers. Conflict arises, and brash generalizations are made about both non-RPers and RPers. Non-RPers become defensive, stating once against that it is "RP-preferred," and they don't have to RP or even put up with RPers. Rpers then become more reclusive, sticking to their own circles where they aren't looked down upon as 18 year-old acne-ridden freaks.

Then, one day, people roll there or transfer there who also do not RP, look around, and say, "Hey! Where's the RP?"

Irony.

Personally, I have no beef with non-RPers. In fact, I am very good friends with a number of non-RPers on all 3 of EQ2's RP servers. I only have a beef with people who come to a server knowing that they themselves will not RP and then wonder where all the RP is. Well, duh.

Nice... Although LDL's choice looks attractive enough to try it one day, generally I tend to agree with Ishina and still prefer PvP/RP combination, so will try my feet to FVC. Thanks again for opinions.
