Ok, the title pretty much says it. I am getting a new computer (should arrive Wed) and I was wanting to transfer my SoE file from my old computer to my new one so I won't have to do the long update and installation process also it will transfer my character ui files. I know it will take some time to transfer such a large file but I can't picture it being as long as the update would be.

Has anyone tried this? Is there some problem that may occur that I'm not aware of (like some internal computer setting which won't be compatable since I am upgradeing everything with the new compy?)

Thanks in advance

~Journee~

Ok someone told me I will still have to do the installation of the dvd's and can only transfer my UI files. Is this true? Am I still going to have to do the L_O_N_G_____ update? Can I not just transfer some of the files (like the update files)?

Anyone???

Thank you in advance

~Journee~

Basically you need to do 3 things to make it so you'll have no download when you start the new computer.Go to www.everquest2.com/install and download and save that launchpad install file. This file will set up the file directories and make sure all the paths are proper.Go to C:Program FilesSonyIn here there will be a few folders, the two you want are Station and Everquest II. Copy both of those folders and everything in them to a back up location, those are the files you need. When you get the new machine, use the install program you downloaded first, this will install the games launchpad and put a shortcut on the desktop. Now go back to C:Program FilesSony and put the Station and Everquest II folders in there, overwriting any files it asks you to.When the copy is done, use the icon on the desktop to play the game, and it will be just like your other machine.

I did it with no problems, and no updates in a really simple way, from my Win XP laptop to my Win XP PC.

Got a portable hard drive (OK had one already..but whatever) and copied the entire c:program filessony directory onto it.

Plugged it into the PC, and copied that directory into c:program files

Done! It may not always be so easy but worked well for me!
