will the eq2 ui ever support the G15 game keys?

Support it how? I used to use the G15, before it died on me, and the interface of the game would be more of a hindrance to using the keyboard than a help. I'd like native EQ2 support for the LCD, but other than that there isn't anything that the UI could do to enhance the use of the g15.

Doubtful. The G15 doesn't really present the extra keys as keys that Windows (and thus EQ2) can see. It presents them on a second keyboard device that the G15 driver can read, and that driver then inserts either the macro definition for that key or the matching numbered F-key into the normal keyboard input queue. Windows doesn't provide a way of getting at that second keyboard device other than through the G15 driver, so unless Logitech's provided some kind of "don't do macro handling, just let me see the raw keys" function in the driver EQ2 has no way of hooking into the data needed for what you want.

Yes. Eq2 will support the G15.quote from the programmer awesome enough to take the time to make it compatible.<i>"Hopefully you'll see it go live in about a month."</i>(quote from 2008-01-17)Patience, young grasshoppers...

<p>Yes the G-15 is now here and the information on the LCD is a great start.</p><p>It would be great to get some feedback on what  extra infomation we could  display.</p><p>Some of the items that Profit provides would be nice.</p>

When i posted this i meant the keyboard itself and the LCD and what not and since this is still towards the top it thought i would just post a reply with the question. Can EQ2 use the 18 programable GKeys i know a ui in vangaurd could make it so you can but i know nothing about what is going to work with EQ2

Sorry, we don't specifically support any use of macro hardware or software outside of the game itself.

<p>Oh ok ty for replying. i was hoping i could find a way to make the Gkeys work like the 12345678 do for the primary hot bar, so that i could have more i use both the alt and Ctrl so another set would cool not needed just wanted. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> and ty vm for replying so fast.</p>

<p>I've had my G15 for about 4 months and am really pleased that EQ2 now supports it.</p><p>What would be really useful for me (as an inquisitor) is a display that includes the health bar and percentage health for my target and (more importantly) implied target.</p><p>I know this functionality is available with custom UIs but I like the standard one!</p>

You can always assign Ctrl-1 to G1, Ctrl-2 to G2 and so on and use the G-Keys for the third hotbar. This should work fine I think.

<cite>Rothgar wrote:</cite><blockquote>Sorry, we don't specifically support any use of macro hardware or software outside of the game itself.</blockquote>How about letting us map more than 3 hotbars directly to keys.  This would allow me to use the G15 keys for things like ALT-SHIFT-R which would correlate to some button on one of the 10 hotbars that I set it to.

<p>We really  are talking about 2 different things and I am sorry I mudded the water bringing up the LCD display part of the G-15 keyboard.</p><p>BUT we do need a spot were we can bounce some ideas around on what should be displayed now that the G-15 LCD display code is part of eq2.</p><p>example: a LCD screen  parameter showing the total healing  or spell damage from aa's and items would be nice.</p>

use things outside of the game like vent or TS.  Much more helpful.

I'm sad that I can't use my G15 anymore. I am not sure I ever have used it for anything other than being able to see who is keyed up in Ventrilo, though. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>I agree that I too use the LCD display  99 % of the time to display ACT combat but I also have to use a second computer loaded up with PROFIT ui  just for looking at some of the parameters not viewable by the normal EQ2 UI.</p><p>I also use 2 keyboards - one being the G-15- the G-15 is off to the side of the desk and used only to re-buff and LCD display of ACT.</p><p>the CPU and RAM usage of the G-15 was good for programs that had large memory leaks so you had warning when it was time to re-boot. I am happy to say this has not been need for eq2.</p>

The problem is that the G15 hardware/driver doesn't report those keys as independent keypresses. EQ2 sees only either the macro you've programmed into the keyboard or F1-F12/1-6 (if you don't have a macro programmed, G1-12 map to F1-12, G13-18 map to 1-6) when you hit a G-key.Looking at the event system details under Linux, it looks like there's more than a single keyboard being reported so it may be possible to access other information, but under Windows the Logitech drivers would handle that and wouldn't present the data where EQ2 can access it.

Does the interface with EQ2 work or are there problems. I turned it on. The interface appeared in the LCD, but there's no information, it's all blank. Everything else works--Vent, ACT, and other games--so I don't think it's the keyboard or my pc.

It should be working fine.  If you're using a custom UI, make sure the UI is up-to-date.  Also make sure you have the latest Logitech G15 drivers installed.

Ok I'll look in profit's settings.
