View Full Version : Emote stance idea
I was wondering what everyone would think of an idea like this.Dont know how many to have, but if you could have a stance active that makes your character stand in different ways. Like click BORED and your character looks around while your either away or just standing there. You could have ones like HAPPY, MAD, SAD and SCARED with many other options to add to this, what do you think? PS, just for all you "theres bugs to be fixed, which is more important bla bla bla" I think we all know that, and no matter how many times you say it, there will always be bugs to be fixed.

Like the /mood things, but affecting the whole stance rather than just the face? Idle animations based upon the selected mood. Sounds like a great idea. I'd use it.

My zerker is invariably in /mood angry. Would be great to have an accompanying clenching of the fists and rolling of the shoulders.

My monk is uni-sexual. That is, he'll flirt with anything with a pulse. Any stance whereby he'd be constantly pruning himself would be great.

My brigand has a somewhat damage mind. Any /mad stance would probably be good, with twitching, hand flapping and furtive glances.

My paladin is appropriately pious. A stance where he could be all contrite would be good, with head hanging and hands together in silent prayer

Something else to add to the wishlist for after the skeletal revamp eh. As that revamp should make the creating of animations like this less of a chore. But imagine the diversity, and rounding out of our individual characters then. Voices, moods for faces, stances for the rest of the body, possible new animations for emotes, new armour models. EQ2 could be the game most frapsed all over youtube.

(( most character animations are best done using motion capture as a base, then cleaning up and tweaking them.Sadly motion capture is hella expensive, usually around $10,000 for a single session, unless SOE has in-house mocap capabilities.Keyframed idle animations done entirely by hand can still be good, but it takes more time and someone with a skilled eye and sense of timing and weight. It would be nice to see more idle animations, but at present I wouldn't get your hopes up, but we can always dream!!!(on the plus side, idle animations are the easiest of all animations, so you never know!)

That sounds like an awesome idea. And I had no idea about the /mood option, though now that makes sense why I saw one dark elf player with her mouth constantly open in a grimace... Is there a window for it like the emotes, or do you just have to type them in as a command?

Once you see one you like you can then time /mood angry (for example). It only changes the characters expression and, sadly, doesn't do much for SOGA models.
