Would enchanters be more desirable in groups for Mana regen? Ive been pondering this lately and came to the conclusion that drink is what makes our mana regen obsolete.

If this a troll, I hope you aren't a coercer... we really don't need people clouding up the REAL issues with stuff like this. If not, then an answer to your legitimate question is incoming.

....

Not at all. A coercer in the group means that group never has to stop to let food and drink regen kick in. Food and drink is out-of-combat regen, coercers provide in-combat regen.Besides, a lot of high-end players don't use food or drink for the regen which is why food/drink was given stats a while back to make it appealing aside from the out-of-combat regen.

I noticed my food and drink slots recently.. they had Tier 5 drinks in them. I'm sure they've gone bad by now

I just havent changed my sig to match what I enjoy doing. The meaning my post inherently spawns from is the fact that the mana regen on drinks is so high that one can literally get by without needing mana regen it all. I think you miss my point. If you have no source of mana regen whatsoever except for drink, then you need no mana regen at all. It literally takes seconds to refill mana outside of any fight. SURE coercers and illusionists regen mana in combat but Not sure if you looked at the coercer tree lately but we have a whole tree just for Group mana regen. My speculation simply was, that if Provisioners DIDNT exist and/or mana regen on drinks were much smaller, the coercers and illusionists would be much more valuable and sought after in groups.Edit: I wanted to also add that this isnt a post to criticize or even put down Provisioners. My point is that drink regen is so high, it really makes casual grouping with coercers and illusionists unnecessary.

You're still missing the point. Drink only provides regen OUT of combat while enchanters and bards (as well as a few other individual spells of a few other classes, potions with horridly long recast and exceptionally short duration, and armor/jewelry with a power regen effect) provided regen IN combat. Drink (and totems) only shortens the downtime -between- fights and has no effect on fights themselves. In RoK, it is the vast number of armor and jewelry items which have power regen effects (IN-combat regen) which reduce the value of any other IN-combat power regen including coercers, especially in groups.

As a Conjuror, I actually prefer a good Coercer.

1. Lovely in-gen power, meaning our group never goes out of power, and we can push on faster than usually.

2. I never seem to get oop, and it means I can go full out on dps, maximizing the groups damagepotential.

3. Mezzing adds, means we could singleheal T8 instances that usually needs two healers.(Not the issue in this thread tho.. But still.

Conclusion: Give me a good Coercer, not that "bad" out of combat- drinks!
