View Full Version : Researchers of Castle Varis

Much like my fellow enthusiasts i'm a bit of a lore hound. I finally broke down today and wanted to see what those 3 sathiran enchanters were saying. Went through Fens and got the Sathiran language done then came back doing this quest on my assassin. Have to say i'm wondering why these guys are interested in the Wyverns:

a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "Did you tag all its organs?"a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "Ugh, yes. The stench of blood is going to follow me for weeks. I can't believe you had me crawl inside that thing."a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "Hah hah hah!"a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "But why do we have to be so secretive about it?"a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "Shut up! We can't drag the whole bloody thing into Varis, can we? No, we can't."a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "If we leave it flayed for all the world to see the Di'Zok are going to start wondering WHY we're so interested in the wyvern. The less they suspect the better. Now shut up and help me with the ritual."a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "Fine."a Sathirian enchanter/a says in Sathirian, "Right."

I actually got the Di'zokian language by mistake and had completed the quest. So I deleted it went to fens and got the Sathiran one. After that I just /logged it and finally got the answers that I wanted.

I am curious though why they have taken an interest in the Wyverns.

well, Sarnak are the creation of combining dragons and iksar. maybe these researchers are trying to new combination that will be more...submissive? after all Wyverns seem pretty tough in their own right, and while seemingly more intelligent the Wurm, are not nearly as intelligent as drakota/drake/dragon.so maybe it's research into a new 'shocktroop' type slave for Venril?

Dozens of Wurms, Wyverns, and Drake have shown sentience in the past. They could just use the Iksar part for the intellegence instead.

An analogy might be the sokokar, as they are combination of froglok and dragon, both intelligent species, yet the result is NOT.

Possibly because wyverns can fly (I assume) while wurms are land bound.

Because Wyverns are made of chocolate
Rabid-Othmir wrote:
Possibly because wyverns can fly (I assume) while wurms are land bound.
Hmm that is a possibility, but Wyverns seem kind of frail compared those massive Wyverns. There is even that named Wyvern Entalon The Old out in the fields close to the entrance to Jarsath Wastes. Kind of surprised the researchers haven't tried to capture that behemoth.
