Wish this was around when I was working on the school bit. Really great idea : )Edit: On a slightly unrelated note, I read a study a couple of months back about how gaming helps women increase their spacial abilities, on average, about 17%. You guys out there get about a 4% increase, since men are considered to be hard wired for spacial relations while women for multitasking.Gaming helps!

Bravo SOE!

/applaud

I work in the social service sector where I see, first hand, the extremes of the inequalities people face. I've also been a female gamer from before the time 'gamer' was a word (you tie the ribbon around the unicorn's neck) and I've seen the evolution of gaming in all its glory. The male influence on gaming is very apparent (and its not a bad influence, dont' get me wrong - I love it!) and there have been some facets that you can see there has been a deliberate attempt to soften that but overall games are definitely developed through a 'blue lens'. More females at the drawing table, to add their ideas and opinions via their own 'pink 'lens' can only lead to bigger and better things!

It is too bad targetted scholarships need to exist but, sometimes, people need a little encouragement to take part in something that's a little outside of their norm. This G.I.R.L. initiative should be just the thing to encourage girls to think outside their traditional slate of career choices.

The world is a pretty darn terrific place with male and female influences; the gaming world is better than pretty darn terrific with all its male influences - I can only just imagine what wonderful things could exist on the gaming horizon with some added female influences.

You go G.I.R.L. !

I would really like it if this scholarship included ANY girl pursuing a degree in this field and not from just one college. I go to the International Academy of Design and Technology and am pursuing my BA in computer animation. Im set to graduate this October and am looking for an intership through the summer months. This would be a perfect chance for me and Im sure many other females working towards this goal. To limit this scholarship to only one college and not to any female is kinda not going the whole way, if you want to promote females do it for any girl/woman pursuing this career. Between the Art Institute and the International Academy there really isnt a huge difference, we learn pretty much the same concepts and techniques, except one is 3DS Max based and the other Maya (my school). Please tell me that you would be willing to go all the way and offer this scholarship to any female in any college pursuing gaming/computer animation , ect. Seeing that I am not eligible to be included after working so hard to change stereotypes while pursuing what I love is truly missing the goal.
