View Full Version : Suggestion to the devs

As there is general unrest in the community and an apparent lack of any input whatsoever from the developers in regards to coercers, I would like to suggest something. While I understand that the devs can not engage in open debate over the issues that are currently being discussed, it would seem that some input is long overdue. What I suggest is this :Create a new post and lock it. In it please give us some input as to what is being done and what the immediate plans for the class are.Personally I dont mind even if the devs come out and say, "guys sorry we think the class is balanced and fine as it it"Ideally if some issues are being addressed in the immediate future it would really be great to know about it.Especially after the way the last update diminished the strength of the class (charm nerf and power drain removed from the one place it was useful in the whole game, possibly channeling too), and the way it was done (stealth charm nerf). It would only be fair to give the community of players (who actually are part of the people who pay and make this game a reality) some information.Give us some feedback, if there is nothing to be done then say it, at least it will level the playing field and allow people to make their choices.Once again , Please give us some feedback. Thanks

Some issues are new, some long standing.

We have more issues that need fixing than ANY OTHER CLASS.

Its time they were addressed and FIXED.

If the devs who have abandoned this class, show up and say, "Sorry, folks, I know you are upset but don't worry, you all really are just fine and dandy." Are really too busy fixing other more important issues. To us we think our issues are very important, especially since some have never been fixed for years. I think this is most likely since I am sure the "devs" are very busy folks.

However, at this time with all that has happened and not happened to Coercers since day one, I really think they owe it to us to come on here, the official fourms, not EQ2 flames and address our issues one by one.

Help us Obi Wan Sony, you are our only hope....

Realistically, there's only one thing they can say: "We're aware of the community's complaints and are taking them seriously."They can't say, "You're right and we're fixing it." If they did, they'd be constantly badgered with, "What happened to your *promise* to fix us?" "You told us XXX on date YYY and still nothing???" "SOE lied to us!". There is nothing good that could come from such a statement, unless they have changes already through QA and ready to go into the next update. They can't say, "We don't believe there's a problem." That would only alienate the community and tie their hands when they do want to make changes in the future. The cries of "They hate us" would only get worse. They can't really promise anything before they're ready to deliver it. To do so would just make everything much much worse.Anyway, the traditional SOE approach is to try to fix things with itemization in the next expansion. They like prefer slow, small changes in balance to big ones. And rightly so; big changes often go very badly. (For example, consider the ranger-breaking change to proc mechanics they made without testing, two days before the release of Kingdom of Sky.)

Do we wait until Vellious or yet another year for Luclin or another year for Planes of Power? (lol, just using EQ1 names for expansions, who know what they will be.)

Overall EQ2 is a fabulous game. The devs have done a temendous job with it and all the expansions. I cannot even imagine all the work that has gone into it and the still goes into it. If it wasn't such a great game, none of us would care about it and we would be off playing some cartoonish game.

I believe most Coercers, are like I am, we love playing the class. As above, if we did not care about the Coercer class we would have been gone long ago, to another game or another class. We like being multi-faceted risk takers playing a difficult class. (Charm with no chance of breaking, bah, betray to Illusionist)

We just want our problems fixed, not with the next expasion, or the year after that. I don't need to itemize our problems here, others have already quite well done so.

Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying you shouldn't voice your opinions about your class. Discussion is good. And I'm not saying there aren't big problems with the class. (I'm too new of a coercer to really have a feel for that myself; but I trust you all to know the score.) I'm just saying that a dev response of the sort the original poster was asking for is unlikely. SOE has been burned, time and again, by being too open with their players.

They get burned even more for saying absolutely nothing

We've been standing here for two years. No fair that others get to continually cut in front of us in the "fix us" line. How much screaming do you think you'd hear if tomorrow Ranger's bows didn't work? What if they where then told that it would be at least two years before it would be fixed and probably longer? Or better yet, they got back a bow that works some of the time, never against named or any epics and thier damage was reduced by 50%? Umm....... Sorry for picking on the Rangers, was just the first thing that came to my mind.
