As of this morning I can no longer log into eq2 like normal. when I try to run the updater/lauchpad, I get stuck on scanning files. it just sits there and does nothing. I even tried using the beta launcher thing, and it scans, then aborts the scan. The only way I am able to get into the game is by loading directly in bypassing the launchpad, but as soon as there is a new patch, that won't work anymore. Anyone know what I can do to try and fix this?

Bo, when this happens to me its normally because I already have an instance of EQ2 running and its hosed up trying to completely close (like I've got it minimized and the servers come down and its waiting for me to click on a dialog thats telling me its trying to quit...).Check your process list or give the box a reboot and see if that helps?

You may want to try and disable the firewall, and antivirus software if they are installed. You may also want to that try running a clean boot, by making sure all unnecessary background programs are disabled. Please follow the directions below on how to accomplish this.To disable background programs. 1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN.3. Type in "msconfig" (without the &quot4. Press OK5. Select the STARTUP tab.6. For Windows 98/ME, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, click on the disable all button.7.Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer when prompted, then try the game again.

I tried the clean boot and it still doesn't work. I left it on over night (not on the clean boot) and it seems stuck on Receiving File EQ2Module.dll_delta.

Remove and readd our game to the software fire wall's exception list. That file is the newer version and something on your machine is stopping it from being overwritten.

Have done that, have even tried completely resetting my firewall settings to default and having to allow everything all over again, as well as completely uninstalling my firewall. When I had it uninstalled, I could get to the login, however the patcher would attempt to scan, and either hang up forever, or just keep cancelling the update/scan. At this point I am about ready to just uninstall EQ2 and reinstall it, however I really do'nt want to have to download everything again.

Try using this link to download the patcher install for EQ2, use the install file and it should ask you to remove, or repair the launch pad, we want to Repair.Give that a shot, see if it helps, and please report back.

I downloaded that (already had it actually because my disk's are [Removed for Content]'d and its how I install EQ2 after a format or something) and there is no repair option. All it asks is what location to install eq2 to, and if I want desktop/start menu short cuts. Ran it anyways, and my launcher is still so slow that it takes 20 mins to get to the EULA, 10 mins to get to username/pw, and another 4 hours to actually scan/patch (although this sometimes cancels so I can't just go to work or bed and hope its done).

Any other ideas? Its been awhile with no further posts, and thanks to GU43 going live today, I am no longer able to play as I can't patch the game.

You have something on your computer slowing it down and blocking portions of it. You need to figure out what it is that's doing this.. It's possible it can be your router, and it's possible it can be security software. That is not normal behavior for the launch pad and it's being caused by something on the machine. You can post your system specs and your MSInfo if you want me to take a look..

Well, I got impatient with the lack of replies, and not being able to play. It wasn't my router, because most of the time I bypass it so I can download stuff a little faster. And it wasn't any type of firewall on my pc either, because I uninstalled it just like you suggested and still had the same problem. So I deleted every single sony or eq2 folder I could find on my pc, and reinstalled it all, and viola, it works now, and only took me about 6 hours to re-download the whole game, so its all working now. Something must of gotten corrupted with a launchpad file, because I didn't do anything to my pc other than delete all the eq2/sony related folders and reinstall them.
