I have vista, a geforce 8800 GTX. 32 bit dell.. it is amazing I can pvp raid anything on extreme quality.. but I often get stuck at loading UI settings when I log into Kunark or Qeynos. I have to lower my settings to blob mode before I zone or I get stuck at loading UI settings. No matter what I do it will eventually get stuck. I have upgraded my drivers did that hotfix a while back and when I try to do the most current hotfix on Nvidia it says my system doesn't support the fix. Some days I can't even get into game, I have to restart my system and lower my settings 4 times before I get in. Also when I get stuck in loading UI settings it boots me from the internet while freezing me and I have to do a push the button to close out. I have no idea what to do to fix this problem... any advice would be wonderful. Use small words please as I am not a nerd.thank you.. help me eq2 nerds please oh please

I'm not a nerd... I'm a geek. You may want to delete the cache folder, eq2_recent.ini, eq2_default.ini, EverQuest2.exe and all files named after the character with which you're having this issue. The character specific files will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniSince the character named files are also your window placement settings, you might want to back them up, instead of delete them. And if you haven't already, try this as well:1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon.

I'm pretty sure my nerd friend helped me do all that. But I will try it the geek way and see if it helps, I am already going in XP service 2 blahblah compatible. The whole first part is like Greek to me you geek. Thanks for that oh so confusing advice and hopefully you won't hear me cussing from your office as I get stuck in zone in and want to PVP. That really makes a girl cranky.

1. Make sure you are logged in on an Administrator account. 2. Navigate to the game's folder (Usually c:program filessony will contain the game's folder) 3. Right click on the game's folder and go to properties 4. Click on the Security Tab 5. Click on the Edit button. 6. Go through each username or group listed and make sure all "Allow" boxes are checked 7. Ensure that no "Deny" boxes are checked and click OK.

That would lead me to believe that you are not on an administrator account. What kind of firewall software do you have running? Any other security softwares?

Mystine

i think im on admin account. it tells me I have to run it on admin and i click that option. I have no idea what the security is... I just have the basic macafee software. I will try to have a geek translate all this for me. any other things you can offer up would be most helpful. At the moment I'm feeling pretty darn dumb /grin

You need to add our program to your McAfee's exception/ignore list. You may want to back up, then remove the cache folder, the UI folder, eq2_recent.ini, eq2_default.ini, EverQuest2.exe and all files named after the character with which you're having this issue. The character specific files will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniTo do this please follow these directions:1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the directory in the default directory:2. Click on MY COMPUTERCRIVEPROGRAM FILESSONYEVERQUEST II3. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 4. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

Ok, I think I deleted everything, and im patching. Have no idea about the Macafee thing. will consult real life geek. thank you and ugh I hope this works. While I'm receiving your geek attention, does only having 2gig make a difference for any of this junk? I thought my system had 4gigs. it has 2... would getting another gig make a difference?

The game will only recognize up to 2 gigs I believe, so no, that shouldn't have an effect here.
