EQ2 crashing while entering game....???

<span class="postbody">Im running Vista 64bit and all was wonderful till this mornings update, now eq2 keeps crashing as soon as Im about to get into the server. Anyone else having this issue at all? Im pulling my hair out here, Im ready to cancel my account, all these issues and nothing being done. Waste of money in my opinion.Can anyone help, please. </span><img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

<p>YES! I have just been trying to login and play fir the first time since the update was done this morning....</p><p> Now the game is screwing up as soon as I start to get to the character selection screen.</p><p>First time, I actually got to char. Select, and it started stuttering and hanging for a few secs at a time. I managed to select a Char and tried to go into the game, but as soon as I got zoned in, I had all kinds of Graphical anomallies, white + Green Squares everwhere, and the game all but froze. I managed to start to camp to desktop, but when the countdown timer got to 0, everything hung for a few secs, then a blue screen with a lot of typing on it flashed for a spli-second, and the PC rebooted.</p><p> Second time, I ran the patcher, did a full file scan....No problems or new files were downloaded. Tried again to proceed into the game, Got 75% thru the first loading screen before Char. Select, and everything just froze and went Black.</p><p> Dunno what the problem is, there is no updated crash info since Sept. '07. Everything has worked perfectly Since Sept '07, and have not had any problems till just now after this mornings' update.</p><p>May try Changing Video driver in meantime, But I really could use some advice or help as to what I can try, especially if changing the driver does not work.</p><p>At time of problem: </p><p>Using: Win XP 32 / GeForce 8600 GT (Nvidia 163.71 Driver)/  2GB 800Mhz. Ram / Intel E6400 Core 2 Duo Proc. / </p>

<p>Changed Nvidia Video driver to EQII Rec'd. 163.75....</p><p> Same problem sill occurs...</p><p>Patcher, intro, movie, title screen all perfect and smooth as silk.</p><p>THEN:</p><p>In middle of Loading "Entity Resources", game starts to stutter and then hangs for 5-10 secs at a time once Char. Select Screen appears.</p><p>ALSO, since Changing Video driver to the Red'd. v163.75, When Char Select screen appears, I get a screen-full of semi-transparent Green, grey + White patches everywhere on screen.</p><p>Also tried deleting Everquest2.exe, and ALL .ini files, settings, and cache files (except Fonts + Default)...</p><p><u>Nothing</u> yet has helped.</p><p>I Really need to figure out how to fix this. I have to assume that SOMETHING in this mornings' update was changed enough to start this happening, because everything else has been, and still is working just fine except for this game now suddenly. Before today, I could play as long as I wanted non-stop, even 1-2+ days straight without a hitch since September. PC is only 7 Mos. old, and even running full load for hours and hours, All Temps. stay well with-in or under generally acceptable "norms"....</p><p>Anyone that could please offer some other suggestions/Advice, Etc, I would certainly appreciate it. I can provide more info too, if it should be needed.</p>

<p>Ok, after quite a bit of hair-pulling and aggravation, I finally remembered something else to try.....</p><p> System Restore.</p><p> So just now I used it to restore to a routine save-point from the last weekend (Before last update) and restarted, Etc. </p><p>Startup errors were gone, first good sign.</p><p>Re-ran launchpad, pad updater did it's thing, launcher did it update things again, too...</p><p>Clicked "Play", and held breath as game loaded up to char. select...</p><p>And, while there server itself was currently "locked", the previous Problems and anomalies were GONE!.</p><p>Now I and just waiting for the server to be unlocked and running normal again, kicking myself in the meantime for not remmebering to try Sys. Restore SOONER.</p><p>See, while taking a break from this for a day or so, I eventually remembered having a couple same-type problems, right after EQ-II Updates, that caused the very same symptoms. At those times I had immediatley tried the Sys. Restore all as I just described, and each time, everything got resolved and EQ-II + everything else running again normally right away.</p><p>I dunno what it is with the EQ-II Updates that initially cause these problems....wether they are changing a system setting, or file, or what. Especially since even after a Restore, the update(s) still re-occur. I just know that some of them won't work until AFTER a restore.</p><p> Anyways, for whoever else has something like this happen, and if you have the option to try this, it's always wirth a shot, if you didn't already try it. You can always undo a restore too, if it doesn't help.</p>
