Upgraded from a nvidia 7950 to a Radeon 3870. Game runs well but no major improvement over the 7950. Still stutters a little in heavily populated areas.

I have an issue with the game color being washed out. Has anyone here had this issue!

If I go into the game options and adjust the contrast it looks great but it reverts back to being washed out everytime I log out.

The sliders remain where I adjusted them too but actually doesnt apply the adjustment unless I physical touch the slider again!

I know this sounds confusing but this is the only way I know how to explain the problem! I know its minor but its annoying!

Any suggestions!

If you're not seeing a performance improvement from the 7950 perhaps your CPU or RAM is causing a bottleneck.

As for the colour/gamma issue, check out the catalyst control center and make sure that the global colour settings are not overriding your application settings.

I have duel core E6400 and 4 gigs of ram. All other games like call of duty 4, Crysis, Advanced warfighter 2 etc... have shown major improvments over the 7950 but EQ2 only changed slightly. I was going to opt for the 8800GT but with all the problems I dare not take that chance considering 90% of my gaming is spent on EQ2. Overall the Radeon 3870 seems to be great and virtually silent.

I hope it holds out because I have been a die hard Nvidia fan for years.

I will try to fiddle with the catalyst control center and see if thats my problem!

Thanks!

If it was the "SLI on a stick" model, then that is a GREAT card in conjunction with the rest of your system. If you where facing stuttering effects, then something else about your system needed to be addressed. Did you say the stuttering went away with the ATI 3870?

Its a 7950 GT and it ran EQ2 fine but the newer games were pushing the card to much! Considering its pushing a 24" dell at 1900x1200 its difficult getting the framerate I needed to run Crysis, call of duy 4 etc.....

Those games run great on the radeon 3870 but it runs EQ2 no better than my 7950 GT!

And the stuttering is still present in heavily populated areas! I hear the hard drive pounding away everytime it stutters and I have 4 gigs of ram!
