Hello everyone! This question goes out to the folks who got AA running on their 8000'ers. In general Anti-Aliasing works very well for me, providing beautiful graphics i really don't want to miss anymore. However, the big hook about it is that whatever AA settings i run the game with (2x, 4x, Multisampling, Supersampling etc), it freezes my whole PC in random intervals. At first the mousepointer and picture gets stuck, then a sound loop occurs and then all i can do is reset the whole rig. Sometimes right away after a couple of minutes, sometimes after hours -sometimes right in combat, sometimes when i only idle and enjoy the vista. So, i can't nail it down to anything certain nor can i reproduce it. I'm running the 169.21 forceware and set everything up in the driver's global settings, not the programmsettings/profile for Everquest II provided by the driver. If anyone of you has AA running without problems on the 8800, i would like to ask you for your drivers and your detailed AA settings. Thanks in advance!

Same boat....It especially happens in certain situations like spells casting, certain visuals (lighted rocks)...etc..I must turn off AA now to play without the lock ups...SadBy the way...8800GT 512 and the latest beta drivers to boot...(but, does not matter what driver)Later

I do have VSync on, which limits frames...do you have that on as well? I would prefer no screen tearing myself. As to driver...this started with a brand new install, no drivers beforehand, clean install of wHQL based drivers...no luck.Always use the uninstall for the drivers when I upgrade as well.Idea's?

Not sure if this will help.. lol.. someone might tell me it's a bad way to do things, however... ..i have vsync on, tripple buffer etc, disabled aa in-game, then force overide AA on the nvidia drivers. i'm not a hard-core techie, and i'm hopin this allows the 8800 to do the work of AA, and leave the cpu for the game. works for me.

I have never seen this option before...and I have been through ALL the settings?Do you maybe mean AF? Let me knowThank you

Edit your EQ2.INI file and add/edit the following line to look like this:       r_aa_blit 1It must be added on its own line, preferably right underneath the last line. Also, if the line is already present but has a "#" or some other character in front of the "r_", then remove the "#" or other character to enable it. It might have been, to use an old-day term, REM'ed out.2. Go into your video driver settings and enable AA for either EverQuest 2 (if you can create a profile for EQ2) or forcibly for all programs - you can always turn it off once done with EQ2.

As enabling AA on the GPU does NOTHING unless this ini option is set. The poster may believe they are cranking up AA when it fact they have done nothing..and as such is having a nice placebo effect. But, thanks for that tip...hopefully others can find it useful..I find it debilitating to gameplay.Later
