My guild is learning how to raid, and this guy owned us pretty bad. We had everybody but melee at max range, and we were still getting hit by that nasty AOE and then our tank would go down. I see some posts on the board have mentioned a dedicated healer to spam cures on the MT, but how do we handle the AOE? I think we were doing okay until he stunned us, then got the Invalidate and killed our tank. Thanks for any help.

Been awhile, but spam cure traumas on the MT (we used to have 1 healer do nothing but that, until we got the timers down).

Other that that, those that can range attack should.

Some addtional info here - http://eq2.raidmobs.com/mobs_detail....php?mob_id=189

Yeah, I've read that before and there wasn't much help in it. Is it worth putting a 3rd healer in the group just to spam cures on the MT?

The stun is arcane based and mages can cure arcane -- dedicate one or two pet classes (because they can do this while their pet is still attacking) to cure a healer in the MT group (one that has group arcane cure) and a healer from another group so they can cure arcane. Put the mages that are curing at max range from the healers -- their pets will still go in and hit the mob. They'll be out of cast range, but more importantly they'll be out of AE range and able to cure the healers the instant it hits. Also, don't hesitate to assign a mage to each healer and have the mages help cure the arcane if you don't have enough group arcane to go around. And yep - keep a healer in the raid dedicated to spamming trauma on the MT.

Now that's helpful, thank you. That makes sense too. Also, by chance do you know if that stun acts like a mez as far as mob behavior? Like when he busts that stun, if there's somebody on the hate-list not stunned, does he go after them?I ask because as a ranger, I was outside aoe range and I thought he stunned everybody in my group (I was in MT group since MT was a pally and using Amends on me) except for me and I thought I remembered him coming after me. If it works that way, seems the best thing for me to do then would be to stay in aoe range so I don't have to run it back to the MT.

Have the MT healers max distance on the MT, have someone that can cure arcane (healer / mage) max distance on the MT healers.

MT healers get stunned, the designated person (see above) cures MT healers.

Also, although the stun is a pain...your biggest problem in the whole zone is Invalidate a Trauma based debuff, have someone designated to spam cure this on the MT. Invalidate takes the MT's mitigation to zero, if it's not cured ASAP...your tank will die on the next mob hit.

Your aggro issue was likely that you were out of range of the AoE stun, you likely didn't slow your CA's and auto's. With the MT being stunned he couldn't generate hate from CA's or taunts..you are a Ranger so your auto's can easily hit for 3-5k. You basically just pulled aggro. Easy fix - when the MT is stunned, slow down your dps and use your deaggro CA's. If you do pull aggro, run to the MT.

Bara

All of the above is good tips, slow dps durring the stun to avoid pulling it.

However, there is something else to know about this mob. The further away you are from him the longer the arcane stun lasts (unless you can get outside aoe range such as ranger/caster).

If you have any healers who can't max range the stun, or melee dps, our raid force has them stand on top of the tank, the stun still hapens but it doesn't last as long.

Although I can't find where I actually found that information since it's been so long, but it seems to work for us.

If you have an extra healer, such as a fury or even something else youc an have them stand at extreme max range, and then run in and cure your MT group as well arcane....casters also work for this.

The biggest thing on this fight is the trauma invalidate. Make sure your tank is carrying trauma cure potions too incase the healers are slow on the cure.
