A small feature that would be really cool and I know ALOT of people would like is the ability to do limited COSMETIC customization on player pets.

For instance much like paying for a haircut...one could go to a groomer and depending on the pet pay to edit their currently summoned pet. Obviously it'd cost more...

Basically every pet depending on what it is would have settings.

Fluff pets for example...you would merely make them look as you wish. This mainly applies to Squires and Acolyte's but honestly the fact they undergo a sex and appearance change every zone is just unacceptable.

Necro and Conjuror pet's could have their weapon's, clothes, flames, horse, editted.

Basic customization I picture costing about 10g per appearance mode (Normal & SOGA)...and would be purely appearance. For instance with squires and acolyte's one could choose their race, gender, and appearance they are randomly generated anyways this would merely lock them into a set look until the player choose to change it. With the option to edit alternate/SOGA models for everyone's sanity.

Summoned combat pets...like the flaming skeleton could have their green aura changed to like blue, purple, yellow, orange, etc.Airy Stalkers rather than be just a wispy humnoid shape of wind could be a humanoid storm cloud, sand storm, etc.More advanced customization would run an extra 5g ontop of the normal fee. and would probably include: Using spare armor to make your Squire/Acolyte, Stalker, Zombie, etc wear them.

Feedback is appreciated. I obviously left stuff out.

I love the idea.I'd even add one more thing for us crusader/cleric types. the ability to have our acolytes/squires get mounts when we are on ours

While I like the idea, the current model system doesn't allow for such customizations. Every time you see a skeleton in armor vs a regular one, or even an icebone vs a regular skeleton, they are wholly different models. The only customization of monster races allowed is what weapon they are holding, with the exception of the old world orcs who can wear armor as well (this was changed with orcs in later expansions due to how processor intensive it was).

That would be so awesome! Even just the ability to change the color and a couple other minor details ((but they better let us choose PURPLE!)) would be great! Maybe have the ability to make the Necro humanoid pets female for the males and vice versa hee hee.

And why does the vampire illusion disappear when you get on a mount, when you can use ALL of the emote animations with it? And 2handers disappear on the back, when they are visible on mob vampires?

Oh I am very possible that it IS possible. Consideirng player's would have to PAY in game to changetheir pets and lock them and their pet name in place. I see it as a very viable option.I'm tired of seeing my squire in that rusty FP guard armor...I'd like to put him in some Chainmail, and make sure everyone see's the same young human male with short messy spiky black hair and green eyes who carries my spare weapons, items, and at times serves as a mount for my horse. I hate when I see one thing but other players see a middle-aged human male with long scraggly black hair with a long mustache.

And VERY VERY good idea Rainy!!! I'd pay extra gold to add that feature too!!

Seriously I know this is very possible as I've taken very close looks at other pets in game. Considering players would be paying...thus another money sink...SOE should have no trouble with it.Players in guilds coudl even buy special pet only guild armor that display's their guild's heladry(sp?)So when you summon your acoltye, vampire, Squire, etc *humanoidish* pets you can tell they are in your guild.Hell put Cloaks on the fluff spell rats, birds, etc.

I am glad you "think" it is possible, but for most pets it is not. For pets based of playable races, then it would be possible. For any other type of pet it wouldn't be. For instance, the "humanoidish" nightshade vampire pet model isn't wearing clothes/armor, those textures are part of the model itself. For the flaming skeletons, you could change the flame color, since that is handled the same way as skin tone color is in PCs, but not even all models are tintable like that. You also cannot compare other games to EQ2. Every game handles models differently. Heck, EQ2 handles models quite a bit differently than even EQlive. Just because it is possible in another game, doesn't mean it is here.

Also, as previously stated, it is impossible to add armor to any model other than the PC races and old world orcs. The reason for this is because the armor doesn't just mold itself to the creature model, it needs to be redesigned for each individual model who will wear it. This is why the EQ devs are currently working on a skeletal revamp, which will help resolve this problem for PC models (each piece of armor needs to have a model for each race in the game right now, so armor needs to be modelled umpteen times for each look). As far as I know, there are no plans on expanding the revamp to creature models as well, since not all creatures would use the same skeletal structure (ie- no-legged/1 legged/2 legged/3 legged/etc creatures).

What you are talking about is a great idea, but would require a massive overhaul of the graphics engine. They have already been working on the skeletal revamp for years, I see no need to double that time spent to include things like this.
