I know ROK has been out for quite some time as I had it the day it was released but I was wondering is print dead? By this I mean there has been no written material supporting EQ2 since Kingdom of Sky either printed or digital download. Is there anything being planned since there have been so many updates/upgrades to the game? Just curious as Im one for having resource material available when Im out and about in Norrath. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Well, there's an in-game web browser. When I need quest walk-throughs and references, I tend to just pull up Allakhazam or EQ2i in the browser. For spell lists, racial traits and such there's EQ2GameData that I've got on a bookmark. These sites tend to be more up-to-date than any mass-market printed material could be. The things I do find printed material useful for, eg. housing, mounts and such, haven't really changed much since KoS and the old guide's still relevant. The only hardcopy I'd really like to see published in an updated edition with all the new zones is Brasse's atlas. Zone maps are one thing that work well on paper, and while mobs move around the zone geography doesn't change so they stay useful even when they're a couple of years old.

Well I greatly appreciate the sites you mentioned they are quite helpful filled in a lot of blanks that I had. I should have been a bit clearer and I apologize for that I'm a EQ 1 veteran and I remember the Prima books that were published that offered all kinds of goodies top to bottom. I like to be able to do research when I'm off line and cant get to my computer like to check racial stats or spell components or crafting stuff etc and get some ideas that Id like to try out or ask around and see how viable they are. That was more what I looking for but in addition though before I forget though are there any plans for online/offline or printed atlas updates especially detailing a bit more with PoS and the following expansions and adventure packs? I have checked a few sites but most seem to have drifted off into cyberspace with no update since almost the initial release of EQ2 if you know of any sites that are fairly well updated I would greatly appreciate any other info you could post. Thanks again for the info you listed it seriously made life, well in EQ2 terms anyway much easier. Thanks again and good hunting in game! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I would like to see another atlas done. I know they are outdated, but knowing the general location of things is a big helper.

I agree most definitely a updated atlas would be a great help as some zones have been re-done Nektulos Forest being the most prominent to my knowledge at least as far as layout goes along with the new zones from the adventure and expansion packs. Only one slight criticism though if they do another atlas is please make the print a little bit larger if possible, it was a little difficult to catch all the names/places on a fair amount of the maps. Keeping my fingers crossed that sometime, hopefully soon there will be a new atlas/guide available maybe in digital format as an alternative option? In the meantime good hunting to you in game!! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

There were some Prima Strategy Guides released early in the game's life, but the game changes so much that by the time they come off the printer, they are already outdated. The nature of the MMO is an everchanging thing, so printed forms of guides are not as useful as they once were. The digital age allows the digital media to stay up-to-date much easier.

They would have to cut down the Brazilian rain forest to make enough paper to document everything in EQ2 in a single book. Much less a few thousand books. Would be cool to have maps though... locations of loot drops (legendary/fabled set pieces... etc)... strats for certain mobs/zones... Lists/pictures of crafted items... Heroic Opportunities, class/race abilities... just to name a few things.

I'd love a 2008 edition of the EQ2 Atlas. I know there's online maps, and eq2map in game, but I'd love something printed to have at hand.
