Considering the mythical epics will require a good deal of raiding, and that a lot of traditionally non-raiders are going to want them, it might be about time to introduce a tool to make putting together raids easier.

I envision a UI similar to the current LFG UI but more robust. In the Looking for Raid screen you would be able to advertize which raids you would be most interested in. Also you should be able to select a level range that you'd be willing to go to. Default should be your level-10 and up. While LFR if you join a group it should ask you if you want to stop looking for a raid. If you choose to remain looking for a raid you should be notified if you receive a raid invite and be given an option to send the inviter a tell so you can drop group and ask for another invite.

The raid-building tool should be more complex than the LFG tool. Instead of showing you name and then level and class it should prompt you to put in information on the raid your intending. Level range would be the most important stat to imput. Perferably there would be a checkmark system for saying which raids you intended to try, but that isn't necessary. If this was done raids should be grouped by tier in a drop down box with contested listed as well. Also it should ask how many people you wanted in the raid. The raid builder would then list each class and the number of people in that class that were LFR in the proper level range, plus the next 2 that were closest to that level in each class. Choosing the class would give you the same breakdown you get now with the LFG tool. You would be able to select people to add to your invite list. You would even be able to invite people into raid groups that don't have members yet. Sending invites would either result in people joining the raid, a reservation reply, or a declined invitation. Reservation would reserve a slot for the player until the raid filled to 80%, they joined another raid (either joined or reserved a different raid), or they removed themselves from the LFR tool. Once the raid reached 80% the people on reservation would get another prompt that asked them to join or leave raid and a 5 minuit timer to decide before auto-declining.

There should be a way to limit your LFR requests to either 1) your own guild, or 2) to the members of a chat channel. This way guilds and raiding alliances could use the tool as well to better understand what resources they have available to them.

With the ability to be in a group, and still look for a raid I think you'd find the popularity of raiding to grow amongst players from small guilds. Even well established guilds may find the tool useful.
