First of all hello to everyone.I'm a new EQ2 player, started 1 month and a half ago. Tried templar a bit and then went with coercer and so far have had fun with it.Just a few hours ago I was killing Thullian protectorates to complete a quest when I get a tell. Here is the conversation :Other : impressive <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Me : err, what?Other : how did you make them fight each other?Me : I charmed one. It's the typical ability of a coercer.Other : really really impressive... I thought how can you take two heroics at your lvl and then I saw them turn on each otherMe : Druids can also do it with animals and necros with undeadOther : what kind is your specialty?Me : Any creature. Except bosses and creatures flagged as uncharmable.Other : this is going to be my next char lol.Considering all the feedback about the recent coercer nerf I thought it might be interesting to post this short conversation so I asked this player permission for it.Of course you can't generalize because this is just one case but it does indeed show that coercers are not much played as you can find people around who don't know about charm. It could also explain why some players may get the impression coercers are overpowered.I also wonder if the recent nerf affects only higher level pets because I have not really noticed much change here at the forties.

Mmm.. yeah. This is also the reason why I picked a coercer but they aren't as strong as I originally believed.mobs are greatly reduced in strength when charmed..Honestly, I think if they tried to play a coercer they'd understand better.with possession, puppetmaster, etc, you'd THINK it would be awesome and overpowered, but its all for show. :-//sigh

In many cases, it's pre-13 abilities which are cited as being the reason Coercers are over powered (including being able to charm heroics with them staying at heroic power/ability, charm breaking ring events, etc). If you mention the -current- abilities don't include those, there is disbelief and instance coercers have power they haven't had in 2 years.

Might want to tell those people that the mob you charm will lose most of its effectiveness and typically a heroic mob will destroy it. For some reason some people don't seem to be aware of it.
