1. Hand placement

Hand ist far far to much in the middle of the grip. No sword is taken like this into your hand. Or do it and I trash it out of your hand with a single downstroke with a medium or heavier blade. You can't thrust with such a grip and you can't swing. A thrust would be to funny, as the hand glides down a full handspan, giving your own hand a heavy punch from your own swordcross.

2. Bladeform

What is this? It looks from a distance more like an [Removed for Content] than a sword. This segmented form can be found in the Reeperbahn Sex Shops in Hamburg, my hometown, but not on a sword. It even looks a bit like the white form of He-Man's Sword

The Sword is much to broad, and the glass effect cannot compensate this. The Blade is not elegant, looks much to heavy with this form. It is neither a real slashing Blade, nor anything else. It is, spoken clear and plain, a disgusting ugly blade. Half of this Blade would be pleasant and elegant. This is World of Warcraft Bonbon graphic. Truth has a nasty sound. But this oversizing is WoW style. Grip itself is to long, even half of this would be enough for an one-and-a-half handed sword. Only the bladelength seems to be right for a long sword. Blade from feet toe up to under the waist.

3. Pommel

The Pommel, my dear designers, counterbalance a sword. Use a Sword without and the blade can't be recovered lightly after an blow. The Katana an exception, no pommel, but an longer grip combined with an light blade. Also Katana were used until Miyamoto Musashi in a two-handed grip without secondary weapon. So, make a real ornamated Pommel big as a Orange for this incredible silly blade.

In all,

- it's ugly

- it's Blade is silly

- I will not take this Sword!

Thanks SOE for letting me give you my money and don't get something back.

Hopefully this is clear enough, so you can see what the OP means (I'm not the OP as as an aside). The "fabled" version, should be obvious since the sword has no particle effects. No idea what the particle effects are like on the epic.

As to comment...hand position should maybe be a bit higher if that can be done easily. I actually don't mind the shape, although from a practical standpoint yes the blade would probably be a bit more narrow. I guess if given a list of shapes/designs, it wouldn't be my first choice, but from a pure looks standpoint I'm not nearly as disappointed as the OP.

Or put it another way, with all due respect to those who maybe liked it, at least it doesn't look like the Soulfire Gladius! That thing looked like a BBQ fork. Even had the orange flame like particle effects on the fully upgraded version to simulate just taking it out of a flaming BBQ pit. This at least looks like a sword, not a fork.

That's a goofy looking sword, IMO. One thing I did like about EQ1 is its paladin epic 2.0 was elegant, simple, yet still looked cool. This just looks silly.

I think it's awesome that you now wield a Giant Squid for a weapon.

As a stabing weopon I don't see much of a problem with that sword personally, Unfortunatly I am fairly certain that it is a SLASHING weopon as such those "Fins" will collapse and if you accually hit someone with them.

I think it would have been better if the sword would have been a shorter sword that extended to it's current lenght instead of being at it's current lenght and getting wider.

It's also possable that the origonal consept for that sword was as a 2-hander and if THAT was the case then it accually would be a very good design for a Sword.

Though I am still glade that the my class's Eggbeater Sword accually looks like a Sword as Swash would use, plust it makes roasting meat over a fire that much easier.

All you would see is the paladin holding a handle and no blade. If you were referring to the Nightbane (epic 2.0) then yes, the upgrade was a huge improvement over the look of the paladin epic in EQ2, but I still think this one is pretty cool looking.

If you think you have it bad, take a look at the Berserker epic.. Its more of a mace than an axe.. It has 3 axe heads but they are very small compared to the size of the huge handle. Its even wielded like a mace.. Sorry, no pictures as i'm at work.
