Pros-are simply that you have the ability to parse higherOur AA's are set up better.Cons-No raid will ever want you.You have no abilities for oh crap moments that can save you.The monk epic is > oursA lot of people have a bad mentality of bruisers and will avoid you simply out of ignorance if they dont know you.The monks buff is also way better than ours.

I advise to use the search for answers to this, but I will tell you what I think. As it currently stands I would just stay a monk since monks seem to be doing better than bruisers at the moment. Both are fun to play, but the monk should be better for groups than a bruiser at this time and will be even a better choice for raiding once you get to lvl 80 and get peel. As for both brawlers we do need some help in our avoidance checks vs epic mobs...and that is another tread all in its own.

I think that soe is just having a hard time with the brawlers and don't really know what to do with them. We do/should have a little better dps than the plate fighters, but not enough to justify filling an open raid spot since the scouts/mages outshine us big time. I think I am beginning to ramble on here but again I would just stick it out with the monk for the time being. Bruisers were suppose to be the dps of the brawlers while the monks more tank oriented..or at least that is what I thought when desiding what to make. I chose the bruiser, but monks imho are better dps and have some nice abilites like tsunami and group fd in the later lvls.

Bruisers may have harder hitting combat arts, but they are on long "to long to be honest" refresh timers. Monks are consistant dps where a bruiser will have a nice burst but then is waiting for the refresh of the ca's. Winner is the monk. Bruisers do have a faster refresh on the heal but it is self heal only and I can't count how many times a monk has helped with their heal in some tough situations saving the healer or tank of the group, not to mention group fd.

I would like to say that a bruiser would bring dps to a group but we really are not that strong dps wise "unless in a group that gives some benefits", but a scout in that group would still do better.

Sorry rambling again. That is just my thoughts. So much to talk about but not enought time.

Thanks

"I would like to say that a bruiser would bring dps to a group but we really are not that strong dps wise "unless in a group that gives some benefits", but a scout in that group would still do better."I'm yet to find someone that can outparse me in group. And in case your thinking the well you must play with [Removed for Content] people, just don't. Most group battles are over in seconds, and bruisers EXCEL at burst damage. Burst damage every battle and the mobs dead before you even have to worry about refreshed timers. but any long battles and we're sunk.

I do agree with you Splorch that the burst damage we have is good and knockout combo is a cherry on top, but on those longer fights if a bruiser is placed into a group that gives no melee benefits then yeah he will stink some as compaired to what he could do. Bruisers are awesome no doubt when the group set up is made right, it just seems that most raids I have been on the leader of the raid really doesn't place my bruiser in a proper group and that is where alot of my frustration begins. I don't really try to argue with the leaders since I feel blessed just to be allowed to take my bruiser on the raid and not my zerker.

Later.

I started off playing a Monk but switched to Bruiser because it suited me better. I haven't played a Monk since DoF but as far as I can see both classes are historically fairly equal but with one sometimes being slightly better than the other depending on what patch/expansion/update is current. At the moment I think Monks are 'better' not only for raid-utility but also in terms of solo and group play. Peel and Tsunami are great and their ability to max out haste takes advantage of the current slightly out-of-whack melee autoattack damage. They also seem to be able to get their avoidance higher but I could be mistaken on that one.

From what I can see as far as a Monk appeal would be the haste. Most Instances/Raids groups have kind of long fights and that means your character will be dishing out alot of Auto Attack dmg. Monks are self hasted alomost to 100% anyways, so yea, they will deal alot of damage in that fight over the long period of time.

But that being said, I think that Bruisers are better suited for soloing. Our burst dps is better in most cases. I can't believe how much I love my Bruiser. period.
