<p>Many of the epic quests in this game give a book detailing some important bit of lore, that only that particular class will ever be able to obtain.</p><p>A ranger in my guild linked a book to me earlier tonight that is part of the Ranger epic: "Planes of Power: A Complete History"</p><p>.... I'm never going to be able to add this or many other books to my 250+ library in my house, so I have a request from lore enthusiests who are doing these quests: Please post the contents of these books in this thread.</p><p><a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=406304" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Much like I have done with the Monk epic, </a>I would appreciate it if you would share your lore with the rest of us.</p>

<p>"Drinial" should be "Drinal." <p>Just thought i would also share this bit of bonus lore from the Dirge epic quest.</p><p>At a point later in the line in order to please Bristlebane you are required to visit the Fool Gold pub in Rivervale, first to have a custard pie fight with several npc's just outside, and then you are required to tell a sad story that will leave the patrons of the Fools Gold in tears. Here is that story as pulled from logs.</p><p>Liddy Bobick says to you, "What do you want from me, songspinner?"You say to Liddy Bobick, "I've come to tell you a story."Liddy Bobick says to you, "Oh now, I could always go for a good tale!"You say to Liddy Bobick, "You may want to sit back and get comfortable then... I am here to tell you a story about two young lovers, and their quest to be together."Liddy Bobick says to you, "A romantic tale to warm the heart!"You say to Liddy Bobick, "Very romantic. You see, these two young lovers were from warring tribes. They met by moonlight in only the most remote locations, knowing full well that being caught would likely mean death or exile. Here is the text from the book portion of the Illusionist epic. The Maiden of Masks Tifanah Jespar was born during the Age of Enlightenment to a noble lord and lady of Qeynos. At a young age, Tifanah's father, Lord Jespar, succumbed to a deadly plague, leaving Tfanah and her mother alone and without income. Unable to deal emotionally with the loss of her beloved father, Tifanah would dress in her parents' clothing to temporarily take on new identities and play out make-believe roles so she wouldn't have to face her own pain. The Lady Jespar sought to maintain her standard of living she had become accustomed to while her former husband was alive and profiting from sound merchant and business practices. The beautiful widow initially had many suitors because of her prestige and wealth, but Tifanah's strange play-acting, made up stories, and her fondness for wearing masks of her own creation would scare off all of the upper class men that came calling on her mother. This would only further add tension between the mother and daughter's strained relationship. As a young lady in her early teens, Tifanah had the occasion to see a traveling troupe of Antonican Bard actors that came to Qeynos. The elaborate costumes, the accepted, even applauded make-believe acting, and the ability to tell a story of imagination all greatly appealed to the youth who chose to hide behind masks. She stowed away with the troupe for a time hiding in the costume coach as it pulled out of the city. It wasn't until they were in the Highpass Mountains on the way to Highkeep that she was discovered. The bards weren't too keen on finding another mouth to feed, especially one that couldn't really help pull her own load, but the kindly costume seamstress said she'd look after the young one. The troupe didn't have the money to turn back to Qeynos, so far out, but feared they would be accused of kidnapping. It was agreed that Tifanah could stay with them, for safety, but only until their regular circuit brought them back to Qeynos. They also quickly dispatched a letter through the bard mail service to her mother to explain the situation. The seamstress, having no children of her own, happily took to teaching Tifanah costume making. Tifanah learned the art of sewing, tailoring, and using makeup to achieve many different fanciful looks. The other bards took to the young lady and taught her singing, acting, even a smattering of simple magic spells. She would also learn of Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane, god of Mischief and patron god of entertainers. During all this time though, Tifanah would not speak her own past and would instead make up fanciful stories. Each bard in the troupe heard a different tale. No one knew for sure just exactly what her family did for work, how many siblings she had, or even her favorite color. The Antonican Bards were sad to part ways with Tifanah when they came back to Qeynos, but as a gift they let her play a role in her final play with the troupe. Back at home, Tifanah refined the lessons she was taught, and her stories and costumes got more and more elaborate. The Lady Jespar's finances were running low and her plan was to get Tifanah married off to a wealthy young man of a prestigious family in Qeynos. Tifanah would have none of it though. She didn't want to marry or become one of those boring, giggling women of the court. She wanted to assume new identities and focus on the magical skills she discovered while with the troupe. When the Lady Jespar would arrange a meeting between her daughter and a suitor, Tifanah would always assume a new role to scare off the young man. She would make her face hideous with makeup, or create costume dresses that made her look extremely large, or wear ratty clothes that made her look poor. Tifanah took a great pleasure in thoroughly running off the boys with her creations. In the meantime, Tifanah studied magic. She was particularly fond of magic that could change her appearance and sought to master as many illusions as possible. She became so proficient at her illusions that not even her teachers could see through them. Tifanah loved to trick her teachers by assuming the likeness of other students or colleagues and playing tricks on them. Then one day Tifanah would just disappear. No one knew where to look for her, and didn't even know of where to start. Every once in a while the Lady Jespar thought she noticed a stranger here and there would give her an odd look, but she could never be sure who it was. As a young adult, Tifanah would be exalted by Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane to become the demigoddess of an extension of the Plane of Mischief, the Sphere of Illusions. She would take the title "Maiden of Masks" and was said to be especially protective of young women who sought their own role in life, and not the one intended for them by others. Young children who had tearfully lost a beloved parent sometimes found a small masquerade mask under their pillow in the morning, or spoke of a beautiful masked lady who hugged them and let them cry in the middle of the night.

That is so cool. So Bristlebane created the Demi-Plane of Illusions and appointed her as demi-goddess of that realm. That's three Demi-Gods told through these epic quests so far.

while there is no book for the necromancer epic. a summery would be they have to collect the last mortal remains of Vazaelle, the demigoddes of insanity from when cazic gave her the demigod status. in the end its just her skull, four teeth, and her spine. for the raid portion need to gather 4 gems that contain her soul basically and join them together with the remains. so ya necros basically get to dominate the soul of a demigod

The only things we really learn in the Paladin epic is that Valeron Dushire wrote his Testimony on sacred cloth, and that the Order of Marr used to carry a version of the Ten Commandments into battle, written on living metal. we are tasked by apparently a divine conversation with Mith Marr himself to find the Truth of Marr, the name of the aforementioned tablets.when a brave but foolish paladin attempted the Shard of Fear, the tablets were lost with him...though they apparently reformed into the sword, Truth of Marr. the weapon was later found/given/retrieved by the Swifttail Monks, called Malvolence, and used as a weapon of torture.upon retrieving the blade, after besting one of the Grandmasters, it reveals it's nature. when we take it to a studier of holy artifacts, they reveal that's it's time in SoF, refered to as the sphere of malvolence, has corrupted it. he sends us to Qeynos to see about purifying the weapon.She says she had a text about purifying such a weapon, but at the time was still under the belief that the Truth of Marr was a pair of tablets, so didn't bother to mention it to us. she then tasks us to find the Rings of Contrition, which can purify the Truth of Marr to it's original state.And apparently, Frogloks are still Marr's favored race, as it is our help in preserving the faith, and keeping the location secret, of the Reet Resistance hidden in deep sebilis, that catches Marr's attention.

The person who did the <a href="http://www.eq2flames.com/necromancers/20304-complete-epic-walkthru.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Walkthrough for the Necromancer Epic</a> (eq2flames) put all of the text from the NPCs up (though not the "questions" you ask), and it does say how and when Vazaelle ceased to be a demigod. The relevant section is below:<blockquote><i>Ahh, I see that you have the three gems. I suppose its time that I grant you mine.</i> Only option<i> -As with the others, you will need to break the gem out of its setting. But before I give it to you, I must ask a question.</i> Any option<i> -Why do you suppose it is that Vazaelle's essence attempted to seek her mortal remains?</i> Only option<i> -No, I don't believe that is it. If she had divine power, she could simply take them.</i> Only option<i> -That's correct. I'm certain she is no longer a deity. In fact, I believe the pieces you gathered are the sole remaining pieces of her soul. Cazic was among the first to return to Norrath, and I believe he stripped Vazaelle of her power in order to hasten his return.</i> Only option<i> -You might say that. If you were a yokel from the Steppes. Until we meet again, I wish you good luck.</i></blockquote>So the most important line here IMO is: "<b>Cazic was among the first to return to Norrath, and I believe he stripped Vazaelle of her power in order to hasten his return.</b>" So at the end of the necromancer epic, you are dominating all that's left of the <i>former</i> demi-god of insanity. There is a bit more in the earlier parts of the quest about where her mortal remains came from, but this is the "WOW!" part of it IMO, as you find that there's much more to the quest than MERELY collecting her mortal remains after she's already a God, but rather that she's no longer a God at all.

<p>Much as I love the fact that the gods are so closely involved with the epic quests and that we're finding out so much more about them, I can't help but be annoyed that so many of the demigods seem to have been removed from the pantheon for one reason or another. I hope that at the very least, they'll eventually be replaced or restored to their former positions.</p>

<p>This is just info off the top of my head. If I have any thing that I can still screenshot, I'll post it. But I've already finished the quest so I'm not sure what's left in my inventory. If anyone else has screenshots of the guardian epic, please post them.</p><p>Vel'Arek-(the guardian epic) was forged in Drunder by Vallon Zek and given to Urduuk the ogre general for the Battle of Defiance. This was also mentioned in the Tome of Destiny.</p><p>Vel'Arek is an intelligent sword that can manifest itself etherally and communicate with others. Most of the epic quest is given by the sword itself. </p><p>Urduuk's soul was imprisoned in the Plane/Shard of Fear by Cazic Thule for desecrating his Temple of Cazic Thule.</p><p>The Overthere outpost was taken by the Rallosian Army during the Battle of Defiance and renamed Tallon's Point. But when Cazic turned on the Rallosians, the iksar laid seige to the outpost. They were led by Dominus Ganak (aka the Darslayer). Vel'Arek was being protected in Tallon's Point so rather than let the sword forged in the Planes by the Zeks fall into Iksar hands, an elite squad was chosen to protect the weapon. They were known as the Rallosians of Glory. Their members were Cusmar, Eloc, Rabid, Modi, Tank, Elno, Remej, and Limk. They escaped the seige at Tallon's Point with the sword Vel'Arek and fled the iksar. All but one of them were killed during their search for a safe home for Vel'Arek. In order to honor the fallen RoG members during the epic quest, you must recover their dog tags. Based on the locations of their tags, we can surmise how they probably fell. Cusmar was killed by the iksar, likely in Jinisk. Eloc seems to have been lost at sea. Rabid was killed by Impaler T'zilug in Charasis. Modi met his end in the Skyfire Mountains. Tank was trapped in a jail cell within the Court of Korocust by the sarnak. Elno was killed by Diggmaster Bonerattler in the Field of Bone. Limik was killed by the giants at the Field of Bone and his tag recovered by Thunderbelly. But, Remej survived and found a hidden cave beneath a waterfall in KJ where the sword was placed within a stone. It is there that Remej stayed with the sword and passed away next it.</p><p>Editorial notes:</p><p>1) It is likely that Remej was honored by Zek for successfully securing Vel'Arek away from the iksar. </p><p>2) The tasks given to you by Vel'Arek during the quest would seem to illustrate the nature of the intelligence in the sword. First, kill the previous owner to prove yourself worthy. Next, honor all those who fought to protect the blade from iksar capture(RoG). And last, destroy the one who lead the seige at Tallon's Point.</p>

In the warlock quest you find a dagger on the mantle of an inn in Freeport and in its handle is a little note or something talking about Ritter Shortshank hero of the village of Everling, decimated long before the Shattering (the grave is in Northwestern Steppes by that little abandoned graveyard, dunno if that was where the village was?). A little bit into the quest an ancestor of Samantha Rageshree (I'll see if I can find her journal, I think I have that too) writes down the Tale of Alexander Simond:The tale of the alchemist, Alexander Simond, is one of pain, suffering and irreparable corruption. After the death of his young wife, Yasinia, Alexander became obsessed with disease and its origins. He began to study more magical properties of death and decay and soon became a warlock of disturbing talents. After the "accidental" death of a young research assistant, Alexander Simond fled Everling for parts unknown. Later stories of several farms and small villages being devastated by a particularly malicious illness start to trickle into the village. Crops are found completely withered while livestock lay rotting in fields. A squadron of Everling militiamen are sent out into the countryside to investigate, though only one man returns.Despite being in a state of complete panic as his insides are slowly melting, he speaks of encountering a single man whose mere touch caused any living thing to whither and die. His pale skin was in stark contrast to the flowing black robe that covered his body. In his hand he held a wicked dagger that caused flesh to sear and turn to ash when it hit its mark. Effortlessly, he slew the militiamen by raining swarms of locust upon them to first break their ranks, and then blasted them with a sickening poison that caused them to collapse into convulsive fits before succumbing to death. With the village on the verge of panic, the town's mayor declare a large bounty for the death of this harbinger of plagues.Several leave, none return. Tales of death and decay are erratic though one day they finally stop. A week goes by and nothing is heard. Then one day, a man named Ritter Shortshank returns with an urn full of ashes and the hilt of a broken dagger. He claims to have slain the warlock and destroyed the flesh-searing dagger. Not wanting to be infected, Ritter states that he chose to burn the body of the warlock and gathered up the ashes and the hilt of the dagger. Many disputed this claim, stating that despite the hilt of the dagger, there was still insufficient evidence that Ritter had actually killed the warlock.However, as weeks went on with no new reports of any plague or poisonings, skeptics finally relent and declare Ritter Shortshank a hero, rewarding him the village's bounty. Mr. Shortshank, content with his new fame, chose to buy an inn where he served drinks and brags about his accomplishments to anyone who will stick around long enough to listen. In truth, the "hero" never did anything. After realizing that the warlock had probably moved on or been killed, he crafted a story of how he tracked down the mad warlock and killed him.Ritter took the ashes from a camp fire and bought an ornate dagger hilt from a traveling weaponsmith and presented the two items to Everling's Mayor. Knowing that the only person to have seen the dagger was dead, everyone assumed that the dagger hilt belonged to the warlock. Ritter maintained his deceit of the entire town for some time and eventually married the mayor's daughter. One day, however, the mayor returned home to find his residence stripped of all its valuable possessions.Soon it was revealed that the Shortshank residence also appeared to have been robbed, as was the bar which Ritter owned though he himself was nowhere to be found. Not knowing whether Ritter was to blame or was in fact a victim of the apparent crime spree, the town set out to discover Ritter's fate. Unfortunately for the townsfolk, ritter was never found and after several years his memory was forgotten along with his controversial legend.Though this is not the end of the story for Alexander Simond...According to Bloodsaber legend, it is said that Alexander was visited by a shadowy figure, surrounded by a swarm of flying insects one night. The figure promises the widower immense power and access to the Demiplane of Pestilence where he could continue his research without the fear of persecution. However, to be allowed such a thing, Alexander would need to recover an artifact stolen by none other than the God of Plunder, Derris Zek. That artifact, known as Death's Grip, had been given to another warlock by Kyrtoxxulous, ruler of the Demiplane of Pestilence, entrusting him to use it to accomplish some fiendish deed.That warlock, though immensely powerful in his own right, failed in his task and was stabbed in the back by the very dagger that he had been entrusted with. Alexander, who now called himself Gherzhas, began his search, starting first across Antonica, then eventually to Kunark where he enlisted the aid of an Iksar scholar named Toshiki to track the blade down. Whether or not Gherzhas was successful is not known though Bloodsaber agents often make claims that they themselves now possess Death's Grip.Legend also speaks of a man in dark robes seen standing at the grave of Yasinia Simond near Nektropos Castle every Deepice, the month of her death. Could this man be Gherzhas come to pay his respects to his deceased wife? No one quite knows for sure.

I've been told that my great-great uncle, Tyrol Rageshree, once apprenticed for Valdoartus."You say to Dalmat Rageshree, "I know a little about him."Dalmat Rageshree/a says to you, "Indeed, well as you may have already ascertained, a fair bit of research was conducted here on immortality, life, disease and a host of other topics. I'm sure an intrepid warlock would have a field day rooting around this place."You say to Dalmat Rageshree, "Speaking of which, have you heard of a warlock who once terrorized Everling Village?"Dalmat Rageshree/a says to you, "Everling? My family once lived there, before the Rallosian Army devastated the entire village. Why do you ask?"You say to Dalmat Rageshree, "I found this journal written by Samantha Rageshree. <p>Hello All,</p><p>Here is the book you get with the inquisitor epic. I have to say I am not impressed with the lore for my epic so far, although I have not finished it yet. Compared to some of the others, which seem rich with it. I've been working on a book based on the Claymore quest. One thing I did quite a lot (to get exact quotes from ingame text) was to open my eq2 character's logfile and do some searching in there. Altogether, I've now got about 400 pages of background notes for a story I'm starting to think will never get written <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. Anyway, if you have read any books in game, you may find the text in your logfiles.

<p>Well the Inq and Dirge books are the ones posted so I can't add much. I did read that supposedly, during the Templar epic, they mention that the wielder of the templar epic killed the wielder of the inq epic.</p><p>Seems thats a cruel joke, lame weapon even in lore...</p><p>pwned by the templars again! <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>However Cusa, if you can get any info on that it would be fun to read...</p>

<p>I found the wizard epic book, but I'm still trying to find the ranger epic book: The History of the Planes of Power.</p><p>You wouldn't believe how many rangers decide to rush through thier epic to get the final reward without considering placing the book in thier house first. <p>The Conjuror epic had little in the way of lore.</p><p>You begin by trying to succeed where another Conjuror failed by dominating the will of a powerful elemental being named Phrotis. In the first Conjuror's attempt he was able to trap Phrotis in an elemental chamber, but Phrotis ejected him from the chamber during their battle and effectively locked himself inside. You set out to find the necessary components to reopen the chamber and gain access. Some of these components include four pure elemental hearts which you obtain from a faction called The Wounded. The Wounded are wardens who fear an invasion from the elemental planes, and in order to prevent it they have taken on elemental forms, essentially bordering the line between mortal and elemental, in order to prevent such an invasion. You phase into the four elemental realms to defeat The Wounded and obtain their hearts. The bit about The Wounded is really the only bit of neat lore involved in the epic.</p><p>After retrieving all the items you need and breaking the lock to the elemental chamber, you defeat Phrotis and trap his essence in a weapon - your epic. The raid version goes on to say that though you defeated and trapped Phrotis, he is still strong and his will is fighting against your control. In order to further weaken and ultimately dominate him, you have to exert him against three powerful beings: a being of reckless strength (Pawbuster,) a being of senile cunning (Venril Sathir,) and a being of arrogant wisdom (Hoshkar.)</p>

Just like the Brigand epic. One of the developers stated that the whole purpose of the Brigand epic is that you end up finding a powerful weapon as a reward for being a mercenary.

<p>The Conjuror epic quest is actually a good storyline... it just has nothing to do with previous lore, and doesn't introduce any lore itself besides the information about The Wounded.</p><p>No, I don't mean elemental planes. Would be cool if the epic allowed you to go to the elemental planes <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /> Basically, you dominate lesser elementals to gain a vision into their realm... you're still in the mortal/physical plane, but it grants you the ability to see into their realm, or where it has bled into our own. It seems The Wounded trap these elementals between the two planes, sorta. You'd have to do the epic to fully understand it I guess... it's pretty cool, it gives you infravision and allows you to see elementals that you can't see without the vision... and they are HUGE.</p>

<p>The zerker epic starts with you killing a wizard. Upon death the spell he had been working on for portals goes crazy without his will to keep it in check and portals open accross norrath spewing out shadowmen and nightbloods.</p><p> Whats odd, though, is the final portal spews out drolvarg, instead of nightblood or shadowmen.</p>

For the Templar epic, after you save the Queen in Kelethin. You go around playing as Lolindiir and heal people that are afflicted with some disease because you're a nice unselfish Templar. Then you beat up some slavemasters in Sebilis and find Lolindiir's remains. You find his remains because you find out he went to battle Kotiz but was outnumbered and died foolishly. IIRC he went without the Impact of Sancrosanct (Templar epic) and it was "lost" never to be seen again. So you kill Kotiz and get the remains of Lolindiir and take them to his brother. Daluntiir is happy and gives you the hammer along with a book that tells you Ventril Sathir weakened the hammer and gave 3 symbols to Drusella, Overking Selrach, and Hoskar.I would of liked more of an explanation about Lolindiir killing the Inquisitor that had their epic. I thought as I was doing the epic the story would of revolved around that but it didn't. That's the story behind the Templar's epic though.

The Brigand epic has some pretty cool lore, but no actual book. However, we do have to complete the one book collection from Nek3, <a href="http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Our_Lady_of_Betrayal" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Our Lady of Betrayal.</a> There's more lore from talking to one of her ghost servants, but I don't actually recall the conversations, probably because I was struggling, in vain, to discover Havoc on Mistmoore. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />(The linked page has the text from the book.)
