Obsidian?

Come clean Dev's, you guys forgot to put the Obsidian we need for the defiler epic in the game huh?  Probably forgot to put in the idol as well.  =/

This is just stupid at this point.  We can't progress past the second part in our epic because some dev decided that writing 20 piece of obsidian would be enough of a clue on where to find it? We know its a volcanic rock, so it should be around lava right?  We have SCOURED all of lavastorm, skyfire, and every other zone in the game with lava and nothing.....so what should we do now?

Not only zones with lava, we've scoured nearly all of norrath with nothing. Just a little hint is all we're asking for, not a hand out.

Can we have a dev post of whether the obsedin is in fact in the game and working correctly?  I think every zone has been searched, every mine, cave, and object...every mob killed, every pool of water or lava searched and still not finding it.  Are we positive it's even in the game?

This is ridiculous we have been searching for days.  We've checked almost every vendor in EQ 2 killed every golem, fire elemental and mob with obsidian in its name throw us a friking bone there is basicly NO HINT.  Its just part of a recipe that says "20 Piece of obsidian" if you look at the final combine it says a bag made of the clasp and Smooth black obsidian.   We have been looking for this item since we found our quest on patch day.

Some of us have spent more time searching for obsidians then others have spend doing their entire epic! We have searched every zone, every npc, every harvesting node that we can think up on. So many people are full of despair right now.There is no clue on what to do. There is no hint, no nothing. All we have is blind suspicion, and that has lead to nothing. So please, leave our forums. A lot of us are sick of the mocking, sick of the insults, sick of searching with nothing to show of it. Will we find it, I hope so. Do we need Dev's to show us the answer? No. But a small reassurance that its in the game... you really have no idea how much that would mean to a lot of us.

I am not saying everyone, but a large chunk of the defilers gave up early into it.  There are definitely a decent amount still going at it but rumor has it someone found it today and is just not spilling the beans.

Of course no one is going to believe you. We've already had so much junk thrown at us as rumors. People linking the bag from the examination window saying that they found it. We need proof. Give us a link, give us a picture, give us something. But just saying "someone found it and isn't telling", well thats just bs. Unless you'd like to prove me wrong. If you can, that is.

Rare as what from what? All we have to go on is obsidian, should I kill 100 goblins in lavastorm, 1000, 10,000 how rare is rare, do I have to kill 10k of every mob I even think might have obsidian?  Is it even a mob drop, is it in kunark, does it acctually exist.The consensus now seems to be that its bugged.  You HEARD its in game but rare.  Where did you hear that?  From a dev?  Which one?  Or is it just some 3rd hand rumor you pulled out of your [I cannot control my vocabulary].   Ive killed HUNDREDS of mobs this week in various zones, ive been the end of chardock, the bottom of Seb, every T8 instance a ton of T7 instances, and I have found exactly 2 things.1) Jackand 2) [I cannot control my vocabulary].Not to mention checking god only knows how many vendors.

Among other reasons, we are frustrated because we've been spending countless hours searching up and down and around in and out for these obsidians without so much as a crumb for a hint.Whatever the case is, we've all been screwed out of a full weekend worth of playing and excitement with a lack of customer service to back it up.Getting replies from GM's and customer service basically stating they can't answer you because its an Epic question is insufficient.period.

<p>I don't know if any of you have tried, but maybe the "Pristine Obisidian" gems used in relic armor (I imagine someone has by now, maybe, maybe not)?</p><p>Seeing that you need 20, if they were newly added drops, I'd think they would be dropped akin to the "rust" for SoD from CMM, (in stacks of 10).</p><p>Also, a quick MOB DB search yielded several mobs with Obsidian in the name, but most seemed to be of very low levels.</p><p>I don't have a defiler, just some suggestions. Anything with obsidian in it's name one the broker has been tried many many times.  (relics to vender trash)Also any mobs with obsidian in it's name have also been killed with no luck.

These Epic quest were built so us as players would have fun doing them. I had fun until a point, and that is finding 20 Obsidian.  I had searched along with every other defiler on almost every server for about 30 hours. This is not a joke, I have spent ATLEAST 30 hours looking for this [Removed for Content] Obsidian. With how big the EverQuest 2 world is, and how clueless this item is it is a impossible task. You DEVS did not give us a f**n clue. NOT ONE CLUE!!!!!!! [Removed for Content]. The other items such as the Idol where good task, and fun to find because we had riddles and clues. We have /petition and looked for feedback, but you can not answer your players. I stand with almost everyone who is getting fed up with this Epic. Give us atleast a clue. WE DONT WANT THE exact location, NPC name. Just to know that you did not mess up and the item is actually in the game, and a hint onto finding it. Thanks

If it's a sup quest then it should be flagged as a sub quest per all the other epic's sup quests in game.  I will continue petitioning and /bugging and /feed backing this until the people I pay (read SOE) gets off their [Removed for Content] and admit's it's either A: In game or B: isn't.  If this epic is anything short of "OMG I get 30% casting speed and a 2k nuke!" I'm going to be severely disappointed with the Dev's once again making a item who's work is not worth the reward.  Big /finger to the Dev's for screwing the defilers once again tbh.

<p>Well this has certainly been a tense area, Defilers have been working hard to get the epic going, I know because my wife is a defiler and its been the consumption of most of her time. I have tried to be as supportive as possible. She was lucky and got the first Black glassy rock (scared to say the word, people may freak) on server this morning.</p><p>First, those that enjoy hijacking threads just to take shots at other people need to stop, Forums are a place where people discuss, not grief.</p><p>Second, Forum Moderators/GM's are here to moderate and the PnP clearly states the behavior one should have in this position. But more importantly, your a rep for SoE and should perform your duties in a fashion that best represents the company. We all have our moments tho, and it doesnt hurt or hospitalize you to say sorry if you get a little "sharp" on a player or players.</p><p>Last, Devs are a hard working bunch. Not many people can fathom the pressure, and depth that comes from and goes into development of these games. Even GM's forget how easy it can be to make a bug in a game. Give the Devs the benefit of the doubt that they will fix it if its broken, and report any errors you may see, this includes GM's.</p><p>If you see players complaigning in such mass numbers, dont crown yourself as a Dev and assume that all these people are anything else but frustrated and report the issue immediatly to the devs.</p><p>Now... Get out there Defilers and get your deserved Epic!</p><p>Edit: When players are mad they dont say GM so and so got me mad, they say SoE...</p>
